It would be nice if there were a feature that one could designate how many marriages a person had, or if the person ever got married. I have several ancestors that never got married and died in their 70's and 80's. It's kind of assumed in the program that the person had a spouse. This would lead to someone who I will pass on the tree to, to assume the information is incomplete and they need to research some more.
Yes I think that it would be nice to have a box you can check if the person never married. I have quiet a few people who never married and did not have any children. So yes I agree it would be nice to have that so instead of having to add "Unmarried" in the notes field. As sometime when printing reports you do not alway want to print the notes.
I have made my own work around for how to fix this situation. However, I know programs are constantly being improved. This is why I'm trying to make a suggestion, in the Product Suggestion forum on how to make this nice program even nicer.
Hi again Beth, please share your work around for all of us so we can try it and maybe someone on the design team can incorporate it in a future edition.
Thanks for your question! If you click on your Family Tree tab than click on the Reports tab from the website you will be able to see most of the statistics of family members on your family tree. From that window, to the left, click on Marriages. From this screen you will be able to view statistics on marragies on your family.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if there is something else you were looking for
Maybe what I'm trying to suggest, I'm posting in the wrong spot. I'm not using the online version, I'm using the downloadable version: http://www.myheritage.com/family-tree-builder. If I posted in the wrong spot, please let me know, and I will post in a different spot.
I thought that maybe if I put in graphic/picture form, maybe I could make my suggestion clearer. Hopefully my attachement comes through. If not, let me know and I'll repost it.
But there isn't an option that says "never married". Whenever adding a new person, it automatically assumes a partner is going to be involved.
When adding children there is an option that says "Number of known children" and when zero is selected it says there were no children in the marriage. It would be nice for it to say there were no marriages and then the spouse field and family field would close up like with the zero children option.
Hi Beth, what you suggest would be nice to have but I just put a note in the notes field. "Childless Marriage" or "No Children" or "Never Married" or "Spinster"
If you don't know the name of the partner, just delete them. For instance, if you have a man and add children, it automatically adds a "mother" with no name. You can delete the mother and she will disappear. If you are adding a partner, there is an option in the little window to indicate whether they were married, or just "partners". I don't think there is a way to mark someone as "never married".
