Sorting siblings

When I added siblings to a mother and father I didn't enter them in birth date order.   Is there a way to get them "sorted" chronologically without having to delete and re-enter all that data?

Thanks,

Rocky

Hi Rocky.

That s easy to do. Click on the parent card, then on the menu bar at top, (File, Edit, etc.), click on Family, then Children, then Manage Children, from there click on the person/s you want to reorder then move up or down to the location you want.

Good luck

Ian, thanks for your response.  I'm not sure what you mean by the "parent card".  I have the "Family" tab showing and below is listed all the names in my "tree", but I can't seem to get to the "Children", "Manage Children" area you are referring to.  Maybe my brain is "mushy" today.  LOL

Thanks,

Rocky

Hi David,

See attached files. I hope you can read "PARENT CARD" ok. I did these files quickly. FTB.jpg shows what the parent card is. Click on this card, then goto menu bar as shown with drop down menus. FTBG1.jpg shows the manage children screen, select the children concerend and us the scroll keys (shown in grey) to move to correct location.

I hope that is clear enough for you.

Regards.

Thanks for the feed back. Now I see what the problem may be.  I am using Family Tree Maker,  not Family Tree Builder.  Now you have peaked my interest.  Is there any advantage of using one over the other?   Can FTM files be imported into FTB?

Thanks,

Rocky

Hi David,

Not sure if FTM files can be imported to FTB. There are files from other genealogy programs that can be imported in the new version.

If someone from My Heritage sees this, please help us out.

Hi David and Ian,

Thanks for writing to us.

In our new version of FTB, version 5.1, we now support importing files into Family Tree Builder that were generated in 4 leading genealogy programs, including FTM

To import your FTM file, you must  first download Family Tree Builder and install it to your computer. You can get it from this link:

http://www.myheritage.com/family-tree-builder

Then to import the file, go to the File tab and choose to Import GEDCOM or Genealogy file. The next dialog box allows you to either browse to the file you want to import or scan your system for genealogy files.

The wizard will guide you step-by-step on how to import the file.

If you need further assistance, please let me know.

Best Regards,

Lior

Lior,

I dowloaded FTB and installed it. I tried importing my FTM data and was 10% successful. What I mean is FTB only imported about 33 of my total 340 people. And, it seemed that most of what it imported was from one family "line". How do I get the entire data base into FTB?

Thanks,

Rocky

Hi Rocky,

Thanks for your reply.

There have been problems with importing FTM files to FTB.

Please send me your file to lior@myheritage.com, so that we can inspect it and improve the import.

Thanks for the offer, but I don't feel comfortable sending my FTM file since it contains some personal family information.

Hi Rocky,

Thanks for your reply.

Unforunately if you don't send us the file we won't be able to help you fix the problem. It is very important that we inspect the actual file to diagnoze the problem.

I assure you that sending us the file is completely safe, we will only inspect it in our lab and delete it as soon as we finish.

Best Regards,

Lior
