I have been invited to join some trees and, in viewing the tree to see who they are, it automatically made me a member of that tree - how do I remove myself as a member of a tree?
If you are a member of a family site, and you wish to delete your membership of that site, you will have to request that the owner of that site remove your membership.
To do so, please contact the Webmaster of that family site to request that they remove your membership.
You can do this by going to the bottom of the login page for the Family Site and select the “Contact Webmaster” link. Fill out a message and submit.
Wow - this takes away all my power to decide! This can't be right. I would suggest this is an urgent fix required in the software otherwise this is open to a abuse (I could make Steve Jobs a member of my site and he has no say in it?).
I am surprised there has not been an outcry about this in this era on internet democracy.
It is possible to merge two family tree projects in Family Tree Builder.
In order to merge trees one of them will have to be exported to GEDCOM file format.
Please note that there is currently no tool in place to detect duplicates and fuse them together. This means that you will need to detect duplicates manually. This can be done by sorting alphabetically, and then deleting them.
You can read about how to merge two trees on Family Tree Builder here.
Thanks Lior. Using FTB (which I have) is not an option for us as we have copious photos attached to individuals. Did I read somewhere that MyHeritate is developing more advanced sifting and merging software, that uses smartchmatch technology to detect duplictes and ask before importing?
There is SO much duplicated work out there on trees that this is going to become essential.
