GEDCOM Export - Forums

I can request a GEDCOM file to be exported but nothing subsequently happens.

By selecting Family Tree / Manage Trees / Export to GEDCOM and clicking on the "Begin the export" button I get the message that it is being generated and will take a few minutes - and I will receive an email with a link to the file.

The "Begin the export" button then greys out and I don't get an email.

(Sorry but I put this on the message board and now realise that it should be here on the support forum.)

Generating a GEDCOM may take some time.

I can see that the file was emailed to you several times on June 11 and 12, to the email address listed on your account.

If you still do not see it, please let me know.

Thank you for your reply. I have contacted my email supplier (mypostoffice) who tell me that there is a limit of 2MB on attachments.

Is it possible to send me a link to the file so that I can download it ?

Alternatively I have gmail and hotmail addresses which I can supply - or change in my profile - if it is not possible to provide me with a link to the Gedcom file.

Sorry but my last reply was based on my wrongly held belief that I would receive an email with a gedcom file attached.

I now realise that it is just an email with a link to the file - which is more mystifying as to why I have not received the emails sent on June 11 / 12.

I received your email re the reply to my post and I also regularly receive news about Myheritage events - so cannot comprehend why the aforesaid emails didn't arrive - unless there is something different about them.

I still don't know why my postoffice email address is not accepting the gedcom file link email but I changed my email address to one I have at tiscali and the link came through within a few minutes.

Having found a way of exporting and downloading the gedcom file I was disappointed when I opened the file.

Despite having ticked the boxes for exporting personal photos and the family tree photo album, the exported file contained only 8 out of 57 photos.

Is there something else that I need to do to get a 'full set' ?

Currently only 7 of a total of 54 photos were downloaded. I have attached 4 of the photos that do not download.

Hi Ron,

Thanks for your reply.

Please make sure that when exporting the tree from your site, you mark all 3 boxes under

Include photos in the export.

Try again and let me know how this works out for you.

Hello Lior

Looks as if you have hit a magic button somewhere. I have received notification of 2 gedcoms - the first one I had ticked the first 2 boxes under 'Include photos in the export' and the second with all 3 ticked. Both files exported all my photos.

The only difference I have effected is to update Family Tree Builder to 5.1.0.5309 - so you must get the credit.
