I find it annoying that the default setting for showing women's last names is to show the father of their children's last name. To change this I had to search through Help topics to find out how to do it.
This seems to assume that 1. The man & the women were married when they had kids, and 2. The woman took the man's last name when they got married. In the 21st century this should NOT be the default setting.
This didn't happen only in the 21st century - just had such a situation in the 1800's where the woman and man did not marry, he was the father of all her children and mentioned them in his will, but they used the mother's surname. The man had two other marriages, the woman had one previous marriage, and some records list her with children with all three diferent surnames. Very confusing to say the least!
