Since reformatting my hard disk, I have not been able to restore my gedfile. I have found n the web many versions of my home page in many languages, and translated them, but cannot retrieve the original tree.

The best way to restore your family tree is to locate the original project file on your computer and load it. It will have a .ZED extension. If you are sure that you no longer have it, nor have any copies of it, there is still hope for you… If you have published your family tree online, then there will be a backup on your family tree on your family site on MyHeritage. In that case, please follow these steps to recover the file: Open a browser and log into your Family Site on MyHeritage.com, then go to the Family Tree tab > Summary page in your Family Site. Click the ‘Download’ link next to your family tree and this will save your family tree to your computer as a file with a .ZED extension. Once you have the file downloaded, open Family Tree Builder and click File > Open Project. Click ‘Browse’ and locate the .ZED file. This should restore your entire project, except for the photos.
