When I enter a person who is related to me, it will tell me on their name place card how they are related to me. Parent, uncle, 1st cousin 2X removed, etc... The problem is that when two branches of the same family, say that I am related to both the mother and the father(both share the same last name), but more closely related to the mother, all of their children will become "related by marriage" instead of the accurate way that we are related. It would be nice for the program to be able to recognize that I am related through both the mother and father and that the father is not just "related by marriage."
Yes, I love this suggestion too. I have a huge family tree and have found many crossing relationships within my tree, and so having FTB automatically tell me the multiple ways that I am related would be very cool. Moreover, because of adoptions my family tree has some extra connections, and so this feature showing the multiple relationships between birth families and adoptive families, when trees cross in the past, is important.
By the way, I think you fixed one of my past questions and now have adopted children showing with their adoptive family in your online version, which is important. Thank you.
I and at least four other people have complained about this problem as well. As a work-around I note that these persons are indeed direct ancestors in both Facts and biographical notes. But I do hope this very annoying problem will be fixed soon!
