Before I crossed 5,000 number on my family tree there were two excellent features; a) with each name you were able to see how the person is related to you; and b) at Home > Family Tree > Reports > Relationship Reports we were able to see relationship drawn up between any two individuals in the family tree.
This features was helping peopel understand how they were related to each other. I myslef was first time able to see exactly how some of our distinct relatives were actually related, despite the fact that we have been in contact with them for very long time.
I contacted you and was told that this feature is only available up-to 5,000 people tree size. Peopel are very up-set on loosing this feature, as they already know their close relatives; and every one is interested in finding how they are related to others.
Is there way you can enable this feature? Please, please, please....
I'm sorry we can't provide this feature on your tree at this point in time. The algorithms we use to calculate the relationships in these features just aren't able to handle trees over 5000 people.
We'll work on improving them in the future. I hope you will continue to enjoy using MyHeritage.com until that time.
Is it possible to have a report, listing the path of relationship between two familymembers, i.e. i enter the naes of two members in my tree and get a structured report with how they are related / trough wich members?
This feature would have been nice, when a long distant relative asked how we are related and I had to use some time to find out were our ancestors meet.
It is possible to create the a relationship report between two people in your tree. It is in your site in Family Tree> Reports. Enter the names of two people in your tree, and the system will calculate their relationship for you.
The Relationship Report in Family Tree Builder is impressive, BUT;
I looked up the three-stage relationship between myself and Wendy, a first cousin and found the relationship. Fine. My mum is her dad's sister.
Then I searched all the entries in the four-stage relationships and she was not there.
There is a completely independent relationship on my father's side of the family. She is my first cousin once removed; from me to my father to his sister; to the sister's daughter, and to HER daughter, who is Wendy.
These inter FAMILY relationships are very important to me because there are LOTS of relationships between members of families who are both related to me but frequently (before marriage) not to each other.
I know the Relationship report is very complex but does it only show the closest relationship?
And if I do not want a full report but just (all) the relationships between two people can I get this?
And in FTB and on the web I would like to see at least TWO, preferably all, relationships to me shown where they exist.
The relationship report shows indeed the closest relationship.
You can also use in the FTB the tool "relation" when you click with the right button on a person from your tree. You can then select with who you want to see the relation.
Thank you for your suggestion I will forward it to the developers and they may take this into consideration for the future developements of the site and the FTB.
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any other questions.
I find that the relationship report often cannot find distant connections. However, in my tree I can click on any person and a summary popup comes up which reports under the person's namehow that person is related to me - if I click on that blue link it shows me all the steps in the connection.
When I have guest membership in someone else's tree that connection link is missing in the popup. So I am stuck with the relationship report which often fails to find the steps. Is there a way to get the same functionality as a guest? It is OK if the connection link in the dialog bix points to the OWNER of the site, that is still very helpful...
