Hi Elin, I assume you are referring to the tree you created using the Family Tree Builder software. In order to change the tree language, open the software and then open the 'tools' menu. From the menu, chose the 'languages' entry. Then, select a different language under the 'Primary Data Language' section and click 'OK' on both dialogs Regards, Yehuda
I have the same problem. Our site was started by a cousin in Germany, and thought I have the button on the bottom right hand corner of the site set to English, many items are still in German. Most annoying to me is that when I generate family trees or family books, they are in German (which is useless to me- I can't read German!!)
If you find out how to change the language, I'd love to know.
Hi Nicole,
There is currently a limitation in the family book and chart generation process, which allows setting just one language for both the content and the 'story' that surrounds it. Since the tree was started in German, we used this language for the story as well.
As I understood, the current version of WEB application allows to display names and all other personal data in one language (although recorded in two languages in FTB). When do you prepare version with possibility of switching primary and secondary languages?
If your tree has data in more than one language in Family Tree Builder (at least 85% filled in each language), then you will be able to see the data in each of those languages on your family site. All that you will have to do is to change the site language to that data entry language.
One more question: what exactly means "least 85% filled"? Does it mean just names ( e.g. least 85% persons has filled the name in both languages) or it's necessary to fill all personal data (e.g. place of birth and so on). And if there is filled less than 85% data, it's able to see data just in one language?
