I previously submitted my question but can no longer find it among the forums. I received a response about researching which is not the issue.
Here is my issue with some more detail:
It appears that the search engine under the family tree tab for searching family members within your own tree (not researching other trees or sites) is not working or that I do not understand how to use it. I have never been able to use it. I enter the first and last name of the person I want to find within by tree and click on the arrow and nothing happens.
I think I know what she is referring to, and it is indeed very annoying. The family tree page only displays as many people as have been designated to belong to a 'branch'. This may be as few as 3 or as many as up to 300 or so, I think. When one tries to find somebody not in the displayed 'branch', I, too, have found that nothing happens. One has to go to the 'people' tab on the toolbar and then remember wom one was looking for. Also, a couple of years ago, you guys promised that there would be a direct link from the Family Tree events and facts page to the Genealogy page, so the notes on the person would be more accessible. This already exists from the virtual photo albums--why not from the Family Tree page? I know other members have asked for this as well. Otherwise I think your program is wonderful! I am spending many happy hours finding and putting together information I never dreamed even existed. And some 'smart matches' have struck pure gold! Thank you for making one retired old lady very happy.
Well it seems that the feature is now working somewhat. I tried to use the search feature through another web browser and had some sucess. Then went back to my original web browser were I got it to work as well.
However, as ingrid has pointed out, you can only search people with in one branch at a time. I will look out for the updates that you have previously mentioned.
