I started my site this morning after my Mum had told me about the site and how good the Smart Matching function was. She also has a site and I was keen to compare the info she has with mine.
I set up everything this morning (10am Sydney time), and went to the SmartMatch menu item. I got the message 'No matches are currently available'.
Looking at the boards, it said that SmartMatch updates every six hours. So I waited. And waited.
Unfortunately, nine hours later and there has been no update. Is there something I need to do? Has the fact I imported a ged file In created using another site made a difference? How can I 'turn on' this functionality?
Is there something new about this "No matches"? I have two separate trees for two families (my and my wife's). We used Smart Matches on my wife's tree and the 3 persons were found in other tree her cousin entered on the web. My family (me, wife, two daughters) is entered in both our trees. But when I do the Smart Matches, nothing is matched. Why? Both trees have enabled using Smart Matches in "Family treeManage trees" <Edit> "Enable Smart Matching(TM) (recommended)".

Hi, Digger,
I download my eMail daily and about once a week I get about half a dozen matches in it. This is abut as much as I can manage, but this week I received several hundred matches from several trees. I have not yet found time even to start examining them as I have had to reformat my hard disk to avoid a crash and lost my domain backup in the process. I have just restored my access to my publication.
I uploaded an updated gedcom on May 1, 2008. On June 3, 2008, it is still "pending" smart matches!! This was on www.gencircles.com which MyHeritage took over.; Since the takeover I have tried 4 times to get that updated gedcom worked into the system. Seems like it gets about half way and then freezes up. Right now I am not too impressed with MyHeritage.com. GenCircles was working pretty good until they tied into it. Anybody else having this problem?

Yes - I had that problem also. But now it seems to have fixed itself. The worst part is that the SmartMatches on here are quite often incorrect - some surnames don't even look a little bit like the match, and the birth year was out also. I used to use GenCircles and loved it - they were NEVER wrong, not once!!!! I think I may go back to them and forget this site. It's also way to heavy on the internet usage - I used up all my allocated broadband amount in just 16 days!! GenCircles is mostly text pages so hardly any use and quick download to each page.
I have daily problems with it esp after midnight. It shows laoding and then done and all I have is a blank screen. i'm on at least 3-5 days a week and doesn't seem to make a difference. When it's up and runnignit's great but too much hit and miss
