With the coming of Vista (or whatever takes over the PC market), I have decided to migrate to Linux. At present, I'm dual booting XP and Ubuntu. I'm looking for genealogy software which will work on the Linux side. Anybody know if MyHertigage has a LInux version? In the alternative, is there a genealogy program which runs under Linux which works with zedcom files?
Congratulations on your move. It is a valiant choice.
Unfortunately we don't have genealogy software which is Linux compatible. Neither do i know about a Linux-compatible genealogy software which can handle zedcom files.

You can definitely create a family tree online and build it directly from your family site. You will be able to make additions and updates from the Family Tree page of your site. It is possible to allow your family members priveleges to add to the tree as well.
In order to get started, use the Upload Gedcom option from the Family Tree page.
I hope you will find this solution useful. If you have any questions, just let me know.
with Ubuntu Linux (8.04 and higher) you can use FTB, it uses Wine program to install FTB. The other option is to use Gramps program, it handles grdcom files.
I don't know about the pictures you may have online if they will export/import.
I have Ubuntu Hardy 8.04, downloaded FTB, but when I try to install it using wine, the initial blue install screen comes up and then sits there forever. Hangs my machine and I have to reboot to get out. Have tried several times. Got any tips?
