Child automatically takes parents last name (while it shouldn't!)

I'm currently inserting data from medieval times and have the following situation.

1) People did not have last names in those days

2) Often people have "nick names" like "Louis the stammerer"

3) Childeren do not have this same "nick name"

When I add a child to "Louis the stammerer" I do not want the child to have "the Stammerer" as a last name, i might want it to be empty. This is not possible in FTB, atleast in my case it keeps showing "the Stammeren" eventhough the "last name" field is empty.

Is there some setting to change this behaviour?

Trying to work around this issue i put the "last name" in the suffix field. Like Charles the Great becomes Charles, the Great. Doing this removes smart matches AND returns no results when I search for "Charles the Great" on the website.

Please incoporate some setting in the next update that allows us to choose if we want childeren to take their parents last name.

Currently we do not have a feature for this. In the meantime, I suggest using a spacer like a question mark or a period. I'll send this in as a request to be added in the next version of FTB.

Right now in the flash player it only shows the wedding date when you hover over that ring, so it does not show what the relationship is between people. In the individuals profile it still says under "Engagement" that this person has "Husband: G. Bush" while they are only engaged.

Hi Gerwin, how's one of our star message board posters doing? I hope well.

For you to know - the functionality in the Immersive Family Tree on your family site is not as extensive as that of Family Tree Builder. Therefore, you may find that certain things which are availble in FTB are not necessarily displayed the same on your family site.

Relationships between persons is one of those things. We are working on adding a lot of functionality to the Immersive right now, which will narrow the gap between what you see in FTB and what you can see online.

For example, when creating an online tree, we recently added the ability to define the relationship between two persons to be: married, engaged, divorced, or none.

When you create this relationship, a fact will be added for the two persons involved. If you defined a relation as "Engaged", the wedding ring will show, but in the facts section you will see a new fact has been added called "Engaged". The ring will also be shown even if you create a "None" relation.

We'll be changing this soon, to more accurately reflect the status of relations in the family tree.

Thanks as always for your great feedback.
