When adding new persons to the online tree sometimes the data is lost. A bit annoying when adding one or two persons, very frustrating when adding or updating 30 or 40...
As long as I'm logged in, tree displays everyone including those I've just added. Logging out and in means a lottery - either everything is ok or all changes are lost. There's no rule or pattern...
Using WinXP/Firefox 3.5.7.Any thoughts?
UPDATE:Exporting data in GEDCOM format shows persons I have added... twice (but they don't show in the tree anyway). I have the file if you need it.
Your information is there. It hasn't been lost.
If you use the People page ot search the missing persons you will be able to use "show in tree" to reach them.
The problem is a temporary issue with the online tree display. We're working on fixing it right now.

Why is limited number of peoples in the list on the left of modern tree, now I not able to find WHOSEVER in tree, and like an idiot I have to remember exactly where the person is, cause sometimes I don't know in which branch he/she is.
Now I can search only peoples in this curtailmented list of them 124/1198....... WHY ? :((((
You don't understand me, i mean, when I see online family tree there is left column, where were all people in my family tree, now there is only small part of them ...
I don't wanna find people in another page, there was ALL IN ONE page. Like i said , like an idiot, everytime I'm looking to Family Tree, I have to open new panel in FF there find exact person on your Peoples page , there find a person, then click "'show in tree" and another page came to panels. This is not help, but delaying of everthing.
Example from before:
One left click to left collumn in Family Tree, typing name(online search of this name) , left click on exact person, and here it is, I see exact persons FamilyTree. = 2 clicks, typing, no realoding of page, it seem like JS aplication
Reality from today:
One left click to Peoples Page(but i don't wanna exit Family Tree), typing names ENTER(or click search), finding the person(You have to pray, that you havent more than 50 peoples with this name, in another case you must select another page), click to Show in tree(open in same window). = 3 clicks(more then 50 same names, means 4 clicks...), typing, 2 total reloads of page.
WAW what a improvement. Sry for my attitude, but I don't get it. What is improvement i n this, maybe for asellers of computer mouses and keyboards, they will sell more.
The online tree display issue has now been fixed. Can I ask you to view your family tree and confirm that you are now able to view people in the tree who were previously missing?
Yesterday it looked like the problem had been fixed - "missing" persons showed up on the tree, but I think ther problem may be still there.
Today I've added 10 or so persons, logged out, logged in and... the tree is incomplete again. I am able to find those persons in "Persons", but not on the tree. Now I select "show in tree" for such a "missing" person - the tree is OK.Logged out, logged in, everything is OK.
Just to be sure I've checked it with a different branch. Added person didn't show up after log out/log in. When I've found the person and selected "show on tree" the tree is finally complete.
It looks like I need to do a "Show on tree" for the changes to be added to the tree...?

It works only for the user doing the "show in tree" trick. Other persons still don't see changes untill they do it themselves.
No need to log out/log in - it's enough to reload tree to loose new records from the tree.
I just added myself a fake child, first name "Test Only", last name "Malon". After refreshing I can see only my real daughter, but fake child is missing on the tree. Of course "Test Only" is visible in "persons". Check it.
the next time you log in and find someone missing,please let me know exactly who this person is,and what are the exact steps you took when you tried to find him in the tree,so that I will be able to reproduce the problem.
The online family tree display breaks your tree down into branches in order to make loading the tree more smooth. This is the correct behavior for the tree.
It is the reason you may see something like "25 of 120 persons" in the list of names on the left side of the tree. All 120 people are there, simply the branch of 25 people is the branch currently displayed.
There is a limitation to this behavior that only allows you to search for names in the branch you happen to be in at the time.
We're working right now on some important improvements to the online family tree. One of these improvements will be the ability to search in the List View for all names in the family tree regardless of the branch you are currently viewing.
I have had this problem already for two weeks. Sometimes it seems to be solved and the other moment it's there again. This is frustrating especially when you ask for help and they don't tell you that other people have the same problem.
If I had known this I wouldn't have added the last two weeks all the data. Now I am not sure how much off the data is lost. The search option is a bad one. That doesn't really work when you are updating your trees.
I expect that there is a serious bug in the programm that needs to be solved soon. And the story about splitting up the tree for faster loading. I don't understand. All the trees i have where working OK since two weeks. Non of them had mor ethen 1600 people and they didn't split up. After the bug all of them split up even the smal trees. So, for what I can tell there must be a bug in the programm that is causing me a lott of problems and work.
I already gave the names of those persons I couldn't find in two familytrees. Yestreday I found out that there were in both trees unassociated persons. In a way there had been formed other trees inside my trees.
After I removed these unassociated persons from the webtrees there were no problems tot see all the relatives from these familytrees.
Right now I am worried about my other trees I have created. How can I find in a easy way the unassociated persons in those trees. I was a difficult and long job by checking every individual on the two trees if they are associated correctly to the trees. Perhaps there is a more simple way to find out if there are unassociated individuals in my familytrees.
I don't know how this problem happened. There were even (unassociated) persons in those trees wich doe'sn't belong to that particular tree. Please help me to find out if myother trees are working correctly, because checking every individual in those trees is a big job.

All of your data is safe, you don't have to worry about loosing all your work.
There is a bug with the way the tree is displayed.
It would help me if you could give me a specific example of a person you cannot find in the tree, let me know the exact steps you take when you try to find him.
Our Development Team is now working on this issue, it will be resolved soon.
I checked every individual by the search menu and checked if the were associated to the mentioned trees. If they were not associated to the tree I deleted them and after that two of the trees didn't give me any problems with the missing persons.
The only problem I have is that alle my trees are splitted up in different branches. Since the problems started they were splitted up. And I believe that none of them it to big to be splitted up. So I am afraid there is still a bug interfering with my trees.
Two of my trees are clean now. I am not sure about the other ones, because I haven't been working on it yet. Now I am checking all my trees bij importing the gedcoms into the treebuilder en see if there are any unassociated persons in the other trees. I did that right now with the tree Abrahamsen-van Dranen. That was is OK too. Checking the other ones is a lot off work so that will take some time. Is there not an easier or faster way to check if my other trees are OK.
Now I import alle my trees into the treebuilder and look for mistakes or unlinked persons.
Bug is still there, I add 20 new people, than I click on Family Tree and WUALAAA
20 peoples aren't there, like I hadn't done nothing.

I'm cooperating on it with 90 relatives, and I don't know what they add or not, cause it is in the sky.
For example home page, nice one, but when i update infomation for more then 5 peoples per day, on the frontpage will be shown: updated information by 18 persons in family tree: Rabek, Melo, Pavlov. but not the inline list of them like it is , when you update only 5 peoples per days :) Same it is when you add persons. The query for database is still there , it is couting number of updated people, so, it don't spare compure time.

Just now is the problem visible, my 3rd cousin add his branch of family, but I'm not able to see them in Family Tree, only when I search exact name or surname on Peoples page then I see them, but how can I know theirs name or surname, when is on Front page updated information by 18 persons in family tree: Rabek, Melo, Pavlov.
I'm not able to read what he did, that's very very shame, it lose all the magic, know I have to affraid, what damage will be done, cause he is not seeing these persons, which he had added.
