Diacrictics problem when editing online - Forums

I have a problem when editing online data (for example facts) and entering polish letters in an edit box. For example pressing "ALT s", which is the way to get letter "ś" displays in the edit box "Ĺ›". After saving and viewing the fact it still shows "Ĺ›". The same for other polish letters. Data that has been imported from GEDCOM file shows correct diacrictics.

Any way of solving this?

In the meantime, have you tried copy/pasting text into the tree from a document that correctly displays the characters?

When pasting, there is no problem, so this may be a workaround.

I've also found that I have this problem only when using Ubuntu - under Windows it works correctly.

I have same problem with letters "ľ", "š", "č", "ť", "ž", "ň" in Slovak keyboard.

OS: WIN7/XP

Browser: Opera 12.11

Flashplayer: 11.5.502.110

I read about diacritic problems long time. Can somebody from your stuff HELP us, because it seems, that the problem is not still solved. copy/paste is old-fashioned and tedious.

Hi Jan,

Thank you for the messaege. We are aware of this problem, and we fixed it in HTML 5 tree. Until today you had Flash tree - I changed your tree for HTML 5 tree - and you should not experience this problem anymore. The HTML 5 tree will be launch soon for all MyHeritage users. Kindly let me know if you need more assistance.

I'm also having this problem when typing "é", "ç", "ã" and other characters used in Portuguese.

I'm using Firefox under ubuntu, and copy paste works fine (although it is boring... =/)
