Hi,

Go to the Publishing > Publishing settings menu,

and click on 'Sign in as a different user'

type you login details.

now go back to the Publishing Settings menu,

Remove all publishing requests,

and add a new publishing request.

If you are still not able to publish,

Please generate the publishing logs:

1)      Open FTB

2)      In the Help menu, go to About Family Tree Builder

3)      In the window that opens, right-click the MyHeritage logo at the top

4)      In the menu, select “Start logs”.

5)      Close FTB

6)      Open FTB again and try to publish.

7)      In the Help menu, go to About Family Tree Builder

8)      In the window that opens, right-click the MyHeritage logo at the top

9)      In the menu, select “Send logs”.

10)   A Windows folder opens, highlighting a file called “Send_logs_to_support.zip”

11)   Send this file as an attachment to an email.1)      Open FTB

2)      In the Help menu, go to About Family Tree Builder

3)      In the window that opens, right-click the MyHeritage logo at the top

4)      In the menu, select “Start logs”.

5)      Close FTB

6)      Open FTB again and do the operation that is problematic.

7)      In the Help menu, go to About Family Tree Builder

8)      In the window that opens, right-click the MyHeritage logo at the top

9)      In the menu, select “Send logs”.

10)   A Windows folder opens, highlighting a file called “Send_logs_to_support.zip”

11)   Send this file to noam at myheritage dot com

Hi Noam, I managed to fix the problem. It seems this problem started to happen when I changed my login password. After changing it, when I log into FTB and try to publish site, it throws bad password error. I then go to publishing setting - Advanced setting and use another email id password option. After that I am getting invalid request error. I fixed this problem by doing following steps :-
  1. I removed all folders of FTB from my pc.
  2. Changed my website password to the old one (I one I used in October)
  3. Installed FTB 4.0
  4. Restored project from October backup
  5. Did the changes in the family tree ?
  6. Published it successfully.
It seems backup of project (zip file) contains password reference somewhere. Now how can I change my login password again , and not run into this problem again. Also, after getting all this problem with FTB, I am thinking to switch to Web version of family tree. Is there any tool available to do that ? on your forum , only way mentioned is to import a gedcom file. But that does not imports photos I guess. And I have around 100 photos, which I have to again upload / tag. please suggest what will be the best method to do it. Cheers, Manish.

Hi Manish,

You can change your password online,

then open Family Tree Builder and change the password in two places:

The Publishing > Publishing Settings > Sign in as a new user menu

The Publishing > Publishing Settings > Advanced Publishing menu

You can import a GEDCOM file of your tree to the site, then delete the FTB tree from the Family Site. Choose not to delete the photos.  Now all you have to do is tag the photos to the new tree.

But I recommend to wait a couple of months. We are now working on a new version of FTB, where the tree will be editable online.

Thanks for your quick response.

I will wait for the new version of FTB then.

Manish.

Hi,

I have almost the similar issue

communication error with MyHeritage.com from FTB

badly formulated request: bad paramters=site_address

even if I use another user account for publishing, still the same issue.

May be it's possible to do a merge of people from various trees through the WEB interface? I saw the smart matching on the web interface, but could not merge trees...

Cheers,

Lucien.

Hi Lucien,

The Smart Match Merge function is only available in Family Tree Builder at this time.

Could you please send me the publishing logs from Family Tree Builder?

you can send them to support(at)myheritage(dot)com.

1)      Open FTB

2)      In the Help menu, go to About Family Tree Builder

3)      In the window that opens, right-click the MyHeritage logo at the top

4)      In the menu, select “Start logs”.

5)      Close FTB

6)      Open FTB again and do try to publish. Wait until the process is over.

7)      In the Help menu, go to About Family Tree Builder

8)      In the window that opens, right-click the MyHeritage logo at the top

9)      In the menu, select “Send logs”.

10)   A Windows folder opens, highlighting a file called “Send_logs_to_support.zip”

11)   Send this file as an attachment to me.

Hi,

I finally was able to connect, deleted completly the connection parameters as I was not able to transfer the log and recreated everything from scratch by deleting the previous publishing parameters.

The small problem is that it created a second tree in the web interface :-(

You can remove one of the trees,

if you go to the Family Tree > Manage Trees page.

Arghh,

I have 400 people in the web tree and  323 in the FTB, is there a possibility to merge both tree? or should I export with GEDCOM, import in FTB and delete the 2 old trees?

What will happen if other familly members are using either the web or the FTB interface?

You should export a GEDCOM of the larger tree,

and import it to Family Tree Builder.

You should then delete the two older trees from the site, to have one version of your tree with the most individuals.

Your site members will not be able to edit a tree published from FTB,

they will be able to view it, and add \ tag photos.

in the next version of the program, which will be released in a few months,

you will be able to allow them to edit as well.
