Site member options

Hello,

I would like to suggest a change to the membership of individuals permitted to access ones web site.

As it stands, a member can create albums and invite other people to the web site.

I think there should be a set of options that would allow the webmaster to chose who is permitted to do either.

As the web master is really the owner of the site, and pays to use it, better controls as to what members are allowed to do on it is essential.

One of my biggest beefs regarding photos uploaded to albums, is that many do not identify the people in the photos. I myself don't like to have photos of people I don't know on my site.

Regards,

Paul Cockrill

Paul, It is currently possible to prohibit other site members from posting photos to the site. Go to the Settings tab (last tab) in the family site and select the “Privacy” link in the line below it. Now click the “Members” tab below. This will allow you to specify which type of content you want to allow your site members to post. Uncheck the box saying “Photo albums”. It is currently not possible to prohibit members from inviting other members to the site, but we may decide to allow blocking that too.

Thankyou for that response to my suggestion. I was'nt aware I could do that.

It would be nice to be able to prohibit members from inviting others though.

Thanks a gain for getting back to me so soon.

many regards,

Paul

Hi all,

I'd like to continue this discussion and extend the idea of custom Site members' permissions for sharing information. It would be very useful to have implemented the following security options that can be configured for the particular site user(s):

- Read-only access (Permission for modifying any objects): Site member can view full site information but cannot modify (edit/delete) anything. Commenting only is possible.

- Permission for modifying own objects: Site member can add objects (tree items, persons, photos, etc.), edit/delete objects added by himself, but cannot modify objects added by other members.

- Permission for deleting objects: Site member can add/edit but cannot delete any obects.

- Permission for modifying biographical facts about persons: Site member can edit information about any persons, but cannot add/delete objects.

Thank you

Arcady,

We are in agreement on the need for additional security options. See my requests for enhancement. Perhaps My Heritage can address both of our needs.

Steve
