I have been able to find so many relatives and history of several grand parents that we did not have. My great grand father 4 generations was Instrmental in founding a town named after themselves. Related to William Brewster of the May Flower by marriage etc... Thanks My Heritage.
I am happy for people who Smart Match with me to see the relevant part of my tree, however as I am starting to put a lot of private information into the Notes section for some people in my tree, I need to avoid access to this section by others. Is it possible to do this? I am not sure whether making the site "private" really stops access to the Notes for each individual in a tree. I am concerned that I will have to delete my site if this is not possible. I would very much appreciate it if someone from My Heritage could clarify for me. Thanks.
Notes on a person are not available when comparing SmartMatching.
The information included in SmartMatches is:
Name, date of birth/death, place of birth/death, and any facts you may have included about the person (which are different from notes).
Also, if a person has a match with your tree, and the people surrounding him/her are marked as living, the person with the match will not see the first names of those surrounding family tree individuals. Instead, they will see <private> Brown.
I took a look at your SmartMatches and things look fine to me. If you can tell me specifically where to look I can investigate.
Keep in mind that it is possible to get faulty matches. The best thing to do in this case is let us know.
We're working on some new functionality for SmartMatching that will give you a rank by percentage of the proximity of the match which will help you filter out the lower quality matches.
Well, the Smart Match features would be more sufficient if I could delete those who not match at all.
I have the exact match feature turned on but gets tons of matches.
90 000 since I started. My tree is only 3400 and over 95% of the match is incorrect. I have 10 000 persons more to put in my tree but wont dare yet. I get a lot of requests of membership because of that so I will close my site for Smart matching if I cant do anything about it. Many of the incorrect matches is comic to me. Swedish names are often patronymikon like Andersson "Son of Anders" Eriksson "Son of Erik" Andersdotter "Daughter of Anders" etc. Others is form by naturewords like Lundkvist or Lundgren
Please explain to me how Sara Andersdotter b. 1688 can match with a person like Svea Persdotter b. 1835?

Looking for Dates on Samuel Russell Married to a Sarah Moore I got a Date But its got a ? beside it on Samuel 1792 Nothing on Sarah. Also A Samuel Kirk 1792, Married to Rachel 1794 . ???
When I follow the link the Smart Match choices come up. On the righthand side there is the word Compare in boldface and underlined. I click on that and it brings up the comparison screens. At least most of the time. If I don't get a loading error. lol.
Whyen you bring up the Smart Matching choices, to the right of each one is the word Compare, boldfaced and underlined. Click on that and hopefully it will bring up your info and the other sites info so you can compare. Hopefully. If you don't get a loading error. lol.
I find it very frustrating to see that someone else has entered members of my family, and I cannot contact them direct. I want to know who the person is and could thy be related to me?
I am only aware of a few cousins, and the name given does not match theirs, I am desperate to know who it is, and do wish I could receive a reply to satisfy my curiousity.

You can contact people with whom you have matches using the Contact Webmaster link.
Go to your Family Tree page on your family site and click on the SmartMatching page.
Then go to the matches that come from the site whose webmaster you want to contact. Click to open them. At the top of the list there is a link to Contact Webmaster.
You can then write a personal email message to the person to get more information.
I hope this helps.. If you want to add a note to someone, you need to bring them up on the list, The left side of your tree. Once you get there, clickon the persons name and you tree should go to that person. To the left side of the page you will see info about that person. If you then click on the (add ) it will go to a facts box. You can put the fact about the person in there and it will show up on the persons profile. Hope it helps. Mark
