I keep getting font sizes that are so small I can't read them when I try to look at a smart match. Right now I can't tell if what I am typing is accurate or not. i believe what I am getting right now is even smallerf than an 8 font, and I am reading this with my nose almost up against the screen. Help needed please!
You should be able to change the size (or magnification) of the page on your screen. Look for the "tools" and make the font as large as is comfortable.
I don't see any thing that will allow me to change font size in smart match in the tools for MyHeritage. I am only having this problem when I am viewing smart matches that I get a notice for. When i am working in the actual site, or viewing the site itself, everything is fine. I tried magnifying things through the Windows control panel, but it doesn't help with Smart Matches. It doesn't matter if I am using the laptop or the desktop. I have the same problem using either computer. This started recently -- I have never had this problem before, I am tired of reading or typing with my nose 8 inches from the screen! Can you suggest anything at all that would help. Maybe I am looking in the wrong places.
S0rry, just checked my site and this is a problem all over except when I am actually in the site. Even the introductory page presents itself in this miniscule font that I am sure is a 6 font.
If you have a mouse with a scroll wheel, many programs allow you to increase and decrease the size of on-screen text and graphics simply by pressing Ctrl while scrolling up and down. If you want to enlarge what you see in Internet Explorer but your mouse doesn’t have a scroll wheel, press Ctrl Plus Sign ( ); Ctrl Minus Sign (-) shrinks what you see.
Hope this helps. Please let us know if you need any further help or assistance.
Kajsa P:n kohdalla törmäsin uuteen SmartMatch- ongelmaan: Kajsan ja hänen lapsiensa tiedot kuvineen tallentuivat, mutta FTB:ssä nimen kohdalla lukee tuntematon, vaikka henkilötietojen pääsivulla nimitiedot ovatkin oikein.
Thank you for writing and we appreciate your patience regarding this matter.
I understand that you have "Unknown" appearing in some locations on your family tree, the first thing that I would like to suggest and works for most users is the following:
1. Open your tree in Family Tree Builder.
2. Click on Tools > Languages.
3. Right click anywhere on the window that appears.
4. Select "Manage Data Languages"
5. Make sure all data is copied into both languages.
Please, let me know how it works out for you.

Kiitos kirjoittamiseen ja kiitämme kärsivällisyydestä asian suhteen.
Ymmärrän, että sinulla on "Tuntematon" esiintyy joissakin paikoissa teidän sukupuun, ensimmäinen asia, jonka haluaisin ehdottaa ja toimii useimmille käyttäjille on seuraava:
1. Avaa puu Family Tree Builder.
2. Valitse Työkalut> Languages.
3. Napsauta hiiren oikeaa painiketta ikkunasta.
4. Valitse "Hallitse Data Languages"
People who were occurred "Unknown" in Family Tree have now the name after I in the personal information page copyed first name, to the maiden name-, or last name-line and after the recording I removed the double first name.
However now again I have the same "Unknown" problem during printing the Family book at least in tens, if not hundreds of individuals, who in FTB have right names. Except for the name, however, other personal data printed in the book.
I cannot be alone on this topic. On a lot of people in my tree, the GREEN ICON indicates that there are 'smart matches'. Many of these have been there for months...
When I hover over the icon, it will indicate that there are anywhere from 2-4-75 'smart matches'..BUT when Clicking on it to view these...the quick reply is 'THERE ARE NO SMART MATCHES'
Yes--it's very annoying. As far as I can figure, these matches were confirmed by you but not yet either confirmed or rejected by the other party. It's too bad that in this case there is no option for an instruction to retroactively ignore this tree until the other party responds.
The reason : you see the Smart Match indicator but when you go to check the matches there are none is due to a lag in the processing of Smart Matches. When you type the information into your tree, we check to see if there are matches "ad-hoc" or "on the fly".If there is a match, the green icon appears to indicate we've found a preliminary match.
The actual matches usually take a few days to be processed, so if you go to check your matches right away you won't see any, but ideally you should get matches within 2-3 days and with larger trees there is a longer wait time.
Sorry Daniel, I have to disagree with your reply. These are not matches made in the last days or weeks but many are over 8 months and even a year old. They are not matches that I 'confirmed' or 'rejected'. They just sit there with their little green icons on them. I for the most part ignore all of them because it is so frustrating to 'hover' over the icon and it will say anything from 1 match to 75 matches........and yet when I actually click on the icon to look at the matches.....'.sorry, there are no smart matches is the dialogue that appears.' Hey, there are either matches or there are not.
It seems easy for My Heritage to blow off problems that we are encountering and to pacify us with some lame excuse but if we think of the thousands and thousands of members who are paying huge amounts of money to buy into My Heritage, then you owe it to us to fix problems when they come up. Sorry, I am tired of lame excuses.
My problem is simular - when I go to the tab for "Matches" it shows an extensive list with as many as 100 smart matches for an individual but when I click on the individual it says there are no smart matches - this is the same for anyone on the list. My chart is large and this happens often and then in a few days it functions properly. Today it is doing it again so that I can't do much work on my chart. Is the server unable to handle my chart??
The smart matches are generated when you make a change in your family tree and publish them to your website.
The data will then be compared with over 21 million other family trees at MyHeritage .
Due to the fact that this takes some time it will take 2-3 of days to collection of the data. Large family tree projects may take a week.
The smart matching technology is very dynamic.
It happens that in this "intermediate period" webmasters make changes in their family trees and remove individual cards and even entire trees. The result is that you have received a message that you have a smart match, but that the data has been removed. The result is an empty smart match.
The smart match technology compares the matches according to certain standards such as gender, name, surname, birth year and death year. The data of the parents is compared as well.
There are matches of "lesser quality". This is also mentioned in your smart matches themselves - through percentages mentioned next to the match .
We try to improve the technology and our experienced programmers hope to refine the service over time.
I also have the same problem with confirmed matches. I have a two confirmed matches showing for a week, but when I go in to confirm them myself there is nothing showing.
I think it may be that I had not confirmed or rejected about 3,000 matches. I have been working to go through them all and have trimmed it down to about 500 remaining and now the smart matches seems to work again. You might try that if you have a backlog.

I have hundreds of absolute wrong "Smart" matches, for example
Maria Anna Hanika 1758 - 1803
parents Lorenz Hanika and Anna Barbara Kiesling
Maria Maria Pereira 1926 - ?
parents Rafael Pereira and Rosa
How could your "Smart matching"guess that this could be the same person? With absolute different names and with difference of date of the birth almost 200 years?
It is really time consuming to reject hundreds and hundres of such unprobable matches.
Is there any chance for improving the matching algorithm?
I've been a member for three years now, and for three years they've been working on the problem to improve smart matches! Hope you are a patient man. Still, I have to say that myheritage is the best program available right now, which is why I've remained a customer.
thank you for the messages. A new mechanism for calculating Smart Matches is already in our developer's hands and is on the road map as part of Smart Matches improvements. This new mechanism will reduce the number of false positive matches you get. It's much more robust than our current system. We are not making any promises about time frames for release of this new system - there is still a lot to understand about the scope of the project before we can define and promise a time - but we thought you would be interested to know it's in the works.
We are also looking at the possibility of allowing you to configure your matches to show only a certain percentage of quality. It means you will be able to say "I only want to see matches that are above 80%" and then you won't have to be bothered with all the other, lower quality matches. If we can add this feature relatively quickly we will.
This have been an issue for a long time. Seriously, it can´t be THAT difficult to make a better Smart Match mechanism? One of my matches showed 46% match, and the only thing that matches is the gender!! It should show 8% match. And a match on gender alone should not show as match at all! When I daily get 50 maches of this quality, it is of no help, just extremely annoying.
