I have received email saying that there are new matches for my site. When I look for these same matches in the FTB software they are not there. I have not rejected them ... just want to know why they aren't showing in the FTB software.
Actually, I get an incredible amount of duplications and even more exact same copies of the same information from the same person/family website matching with my info over and over again, its such a waste of time and becoming annoying.
No need for so many copies of the same information, its also probably contributing to the expense of running the website?
When I find eg. the birth and baptism date in the parish register I create a new source in FTB - View - Sources.
Add a picture from the book to the source, and write all the information from the book into this source.
Then editing the person, going to the tab "Facts" and add the birth information and the baptism information.
To each of these Fatcs I add a "Fact Citations" and select the Facts source I created above.
These "Fact Citations" are they also merged via Smart matching???
I believe that I understand the concept of value and the need to derive income for value added service. Smart Matching can and does deliver some added service through enhanced processing, background comparisons of trees, and facilitated collaboration.
Today, however, I received a SmartMatch notification that contained the following text:
"Tip: when you and the owner of another tree mutually confirm a Smart Match, it becomes fully validated."
Confirmation of Smart Matches is only available through Premium Service. So I interpret the above statement to mean that confirming a relationship - even if between direct siblings maintaining separate trees - cannot be "validated" unless those two siblings pay a fee to MyHeritage. Excuse me.......
I can justify upgrading to Premium Service for several reasons but to "fully validate" my connection to my sister or my cousin is not amongst them.
I can agree with that. Smart matching is a great idea though and yes I've had to pay what I consider to be a high premium for this service. I have found several matches in the past two days to relatives I had no idea existed and yes, they are my relatives from the information given. Amazing.
There is another site which is far less expensive and has virtually the same service which I also use.
Hi Jack Russell, I totally agree with you, confirming a relationship should not be validated because you pay for the service. How is My Heritage site going to compete if they continue this requirerment? Many other family sites do this also and I have three. Like your opinion, Liz
I had smart matches for people that I deleted before comfirming, so now I have a bunch of matches that I can't access because the people who matched aren't there anymore. Any way to get around this so that it doesn't say I have matches for people that I don't really have?
I have the same problem: I decided to tidy up and slim down my tree so I deleted a number of entries. (My husband's family, not mine. It seemed smarter (!) matching our trees rather than duplicating them). I didn't realize I had a zillion smart matches regarding these same entries, and now they don't show when I click on the Smart Match links. There are no alternatives for anything, I can't reject or ignore or whatever.
The problem was that they didn't show up so I couldn't reject them, but they still showed up as matches even though they were not available to be seen. Luckily I still had my Tree in FTB, so I was able to go back look and to temporarily add the people again so that the matches coud be responded to.
I am wondering why one site that I am affiliated with doesn't show on my smart match list. We are cousins who found each other but his site doesn't show on my smart match list. Is there someway to fix this?
I had some Smart Matches for some people, let's call them John and Paul. Then I realized that John and Paul doesn't belong to the family so I removed them. The Smart Matches screen still showed results but with empty content.
Then I added some new people to the family, Clara and Esther.
Then if I open the Smart Matches screen the system shows that Clara and Esther are matches for John and Paul in the other family (where the original John and Paul matches were found.)
