The computer is sending me "Smart Matches" trying to match up a person with his or her sisters or brothers. It gets to be a pain when there are 8 or 10 or 12 sisters and brothers. It wastes my time, my patience and my good will with myheritage.com. If your techies are any good they can fix this problem.
In our newly released Enhanced Smart Matches, we now show you ALL of your matches, the high quality matches and the lower quality ones.
The list is sorted by quality, so you’ll see the best Matches first, but we also show you the other matches below, so that no information will be hidden, and all your research potential will be met.
If you find that a match is wrong (sometimes siblings are matched with each other for example), just mark it as rejected. Marking the match as rejected will help you manage your matches, and will also help us understand that this should not be regarded as a Match in the future.
Attached you find Smartmatches for a person. If you look at the 2nd smart match (smartmatch2.jpg) you see that the only data matching is the gender (smartmatch1.jpg). It says that the forname is exact matching eventhough it is blank for the other person. And it says the sirname is not fully matched. Well the sirname is also blank in the other person so....
The other thing is where does the Smart match list get its names (smartmatch2.jpg) ? Since the forname and sirname is missing where does Bengt Jonsson come from?
Sometimes I also get a blank list of Smart matches where it says that there is a match but shows nothing. It is somewhere in my list of smart matches but right now I cant find it.
The problem you report is actually a language issue. If you change the language of your site to English, you will be able to see that this match has the same name and also matching relatives to the one in your tree.
SmartMatches take time to process, especially after a tree is published, and that is the reason for the empty matches you see sometimes. The process usually takes a few days after a publishing or a change in a tree.
This is not true. Sorry for being so blunt, but that's the same answer you folks gave me four months ago when I began having the same problem with blank matches. One has been on my site, blank but saying I have 16 matches to confirm, for about four months now (Reynolds/Hurt/Sweizer Web Site). Other smartmatches have posted and been confirmed or rejected by me, but I have to continuously skip over the above site...very irritating! I've posted this same problem several times in these blogs, but no one has responded with a correct explanation, nor have they gone on my site and corrected the problem. If you don't know the answer, or can't fix the problem, just say so, instead of giving incorrect answers! Charles
The problem is because translations of names. If you use swedish, the smartmatch only compare the english translation. If you use the english field and don't translate that to swedish field, you see only "Unknown" because the name-field is empty.
For 3 months I have mailed the support of myheritage complaining of the "stupid-match" they have.
Today I even got "stupid-match" med different name, different sex and different children. 0% match i would say...
I don't want to click '"decline" on 43.000 names I have today... Smartmatch.. plain stupid.
I've found there are times when it's just way off. Nothing is correct, not even the names or dates. Other times it matches syblings with each other. That's actually pretty common, I don't really understand it though, since you have both syblings there being matched with each other.
Panic! Appreciating SMs. they giving recently a couple of hereto unknown matches besides our Families interactions to date in such, I noted one and though familiar I accidently discarded in total only to realize it was indeed greatly valid to us all as a new avenue! I'm ploughing through that 'Family-Name' (Community) hoping to link to match, is there a way of recovering please? grateful!
I am new to "My Heritage" and I am still working my way around the program. I have not yet signed up with a subscription. I notice that some of the Smart match researchers have a LOT of people in their trees. (As many as 20,000 ) Are some of these reseachers proffessionals, just collecting names? I am interested in matching up with family members, how can I tell the difference?
I am quite new too but have come up to about 1800 in just 3 months. I have striktly only worked back in time and just added parents and lately all sibblings for each generation. Doing so I hope for more Smart Matches from people who has relativs among those siblings and maybe they have come furthur in the search which could help me. Other people, when they have come as far as possible, turns back and search forward for offspring of all siblings and looks for living relatives.
I can say that I found some historic persons in my heritage so I began to add all related persons even if they where not direct relatives just for fun. I come from Sweden where it is quite easy to come down to late 1700 for most branshes in the family tree as long as the parents are married. If you are lucky and your relatives owned their farms you can come down to early 1700 and possibly even 1600 and even more so if your relativ belongs to the nobles as one of my relatives did. And then almost all are in some way relative to early swedish kings and to in the european nobles. Of course some people may have bragged about there heritage way back in time to look better then they where so you have to take the information with caution.
So if you just add your parents and their parents and... you wont get so many people before a branch is ended. If you are lucky and fill all branches the number of people will double for each generation. After 10 generations the tree will exceed 1000 people with just direct relatives. If you add all siblings you will have thousends of people in your tree.
Very few people on here are professionals. As far as why a tree is so big, it depends on the tree. Some really will have a bunch of people on the tree. Others have copied many times and have the same people several times on the same tree. Other trees are complete gibberish and count mythical gods and fictional people as ancestors.
Smart Match is not so smart, it should be changed to Plain Stupid Match.
Serine Maria Hansdatter Rasch b. 1864 d. 1901
has the smart match:
Marta Marie Hansdatter b. 1822 d. 1851
Why should I need to deny this is not correct person.
The smart match says that a person dead before my person is even born is a good suggestion.
Wrong parents, wrong husband, wrong children.. u name it.
I have 25.589 "smart" matches awaiting to confirm. I do NOT want those stupid suggestions.. And even have to pay for them.
