I don't see why it should be called smart match. I have childen that are dead having a matching rate of 79 with a person that has lived to old age and have children.
I notice that sometimes as well. Sometimes I have matches between people who don't even have the same name. It also doesn't know "numbered" names vey well either. Such as if there is a John I, John II, and John III. More often than not, the program will match the three with each other. Like matching John III with John I and John I with John II. That must be a design flaw.
Why is it that I suddenly can't confirm or reject smart matches? I have the basic subscription and now everytime it shows me a possible match to confirm/reject it says I can't perform that action until I upgrade to a Premium Membership. What's the point of that? When did they take that function away from the basic subscribers and how come they didn't notify us that they were doing so? i've never been able to merge data but that was fine, as I prefer to verify my own before adding it to my tree.
Can't help but feel I'm getting ripped off all of a sudden, and that there's just a little too much pressure to upgrade to a paying membership. Especially considering all the apparent problems the paying members are having with the Smart Match features!
yes i also don't want to be held back from confirming matches in other trees.. what's the point of a community site if you have your arm bent to pay up for the premium version. so far, i have hundreds of matches but can't confirm any of them!
I agree completely. This site is becoming useless. I resent the arm twisting and the inability to confirm or reject Smart Matches, contact the tree owner or apply to join the site. It also devalues the premium membership as I cannot tell the other person that they are barking up the wrong tree.
When you add that the site geneology feature only supports internet explorer, why would I bother. Guess what - lots of people use Firefox, Safari, Chrome etc. I certainly wouldn't pay for a site which didn't support my browser.
I guess I'll stick with Genes Reunited. Not free, but only £10 and you can put trees of any size up and contact the 'hot matches'
