Happens all the time to me too. I am using Family Tree Builder; at first I used to reject the match where the Main Persons matched correctly but one or more of the family displayed in the 'Compare tree' were incorrectly matched.
Now, as I check new matches, I review the old ones. In all cases (many of them previously rejected) I confirm the match if the Main Person is the SAME PERSON in my tree and in the proposed match. Not just the name of course but matching dates of birth etc., and obviously not a different family, but if there are the sort of mismatches between other family members we have been talking about I still confirm the match. I have decided the system is about matching the main persons; if the others show up in their own SmartMatch as main person and don't match I will reject them then.
I have probably confused the hell out of the system by changing my criteria to what I now believe is correct, and in the process confirming previously rejected matches, but it will settle down!
I am not going to look it up now but I think the philosophy and method of SmartMatch use should be better (and SIMPLY) explained in the Manual and other guidance material. Especially that it is a proposed match between the Main Persons and that the others are just shown so that you can see that the family is the same, NOT to compare matches between other family members.
In 2 of my trees I have a total of 12 smart matches that only show up as needing to be confirmed, but there is no data attached. So I cannot confirm or reject them. New smart matches pop up now and then and they have data attached so I can handle them, but these 12 smart matches just stay there, seemingly forever!
Same here! I uploaded an updated GEDCOM and lost ALL my SmartMatches!! I've done it before with no problem, the SmartMatches came right back, but this time it's a big problem. I sent an email to support well over a week ago with no answer. What gives? This is starting to tick me off. I also posted this problem on the Family Pages forum. I'm going to contact support again.
Thank you for writing to us, and sorry about the delay.
Please note that each time that you publish your tree to the site the Smart Match calculation process is restarted. This means that if you publish your tree very frequently you may experience a large delay in receiving the new Matches.
I have now made a change in the database so that your site's Matches will be processed faster. Please wait 3 days without publishing a new version of your tree to the site, and you should receive Matches.
If this does not resolve the problem, please let me know.
I uploaded a new GEDCOM to my Family Page. Whatever you did last time to get the Smart Matches, can you please do it again. Not sure why you have to adjust something to get Smart Matches faster. Shouldn't they be that fast all the time?
Yes this is very interesting. As we both have "priority support" we should have an answer in no time...... or? More and more things seems to be questionable but the people at MyHeritage doesn't seem to care. Very frustrating.
Don't know where to send a feature request, but I would like to see a filter on smart matches. anything below x% is filtered out. Most of them are ridiculous mismatches. I would also like to see smart matches filtered out if all of the pertinent information is marked "private". I'm not a mind reader, and you don't have the ESP module installed, either.
No need to respond, unless you're a MyHeritage net nanny. Support posts are appreciated, however.
My name is Ilana, and I am part of MyHeritage.com Customer Support Department.
We currently do not have the option to filter Smart Matches, although thank you so much for the suggestion. This feature has been proposed for other users on the past. I will be sure to forward it to the appropriate department for consideration (request #: FTBN-3350).
Please let me know if you have any other ideas as we do value such input from our users. Feel free to write us directly to: support@myheritage.com

In the middle of publishing my tree to the web, everything freezed and I got an error message telling me about an internal server error. Closed everything down, reconnected and tried to publish again, same error. Closed down my Explorer again, reconnected and......... my family tree was gone and I was greeted with a welcome message to start to add people into my new family tree!!!!!
No problem, I just imported my latest family tree from my P as a GEDCOM file and checked that it was poperly published on the web, photos inkluded. BUT, ALL SmartMatches are lost!!! When I open the SmartMatches tab I get a message that there are NO matches (I have verified over 10.000 the past months) and that I should add more people to get matches!!! Is there any way to get the verified matches back or do I have weeks of work in front of me?
If you haven't got your Smart Matches yet, keep complaining. I finally got mine today after many emails. I'm not going to confirm any Smart Matches until I am completely finished with my tree, because as you know, the Smart Matches reset with every updated tree.
The smart matches are generated when you make a change in your family tree and publish them to your website The data will then be compared with approximately 21 million other family trees at MyHeritage . When you remove the publication of a family tree from your website all related smartmatches with this tree will be deleted as well.
Related question: when I copied some data during a Smart Match, I clicked on the checkbox "Don't Ask Me If I Want To Confirm" (or something like that). That was a mistake, and I want to uncheck that checkbox but i can't find a settings page to bring it back. Can you adivse?
