there is of course an option to download the Family GEDCOM file.
i would like to have the option to download all the family photos on my site divided by albums (meaning the pictures should be divided with seperate folder for each album).
this feature (to download all pictures by one click) should be in the same place where the GEDCOM download option is given, or under the albums tab.
Report listing all photos uploaded with hyperlink to each one listed. The list must include file size.
Why? Because sometimes the disk space gets chewed up with large files that were uploaded. If one can identify which photos are causing the most problems, one can photoshop it, compress it, delete the large one and replace it with the newer small one. This will improve server performance with less downloading ocurring too.
A portal feature suggestion: I'd love to have an option to change the name of the site I administer.
In my example, when I created the site fist time -with no prior knowledge of how the portal works- I've named the site with my personal name. Few months down the line, I've got 300 people on the list and 5 members. I'd love to mobilise more people to join the site, but it's putting off to join a site which seems personal rather then family. It's purely a matter of naming convention. If I change the name to something more universal to all members - they will be more likely to join.
When you do provide this functionality then PLEASE drop me an email. I will belooking forward to receving it.
It would be a great "Setting" to choose to have myHeritage automatically email you a GED archive at the end of the day (if any updates where made to the site). I would suggest this only for paying customers, to encourage people signing up, but also to minimize the load on compiling them. Since you have sites all over the world, the compiler would probably be running 24/7 and launching emails around the clock.
Most sites don't update every day so, they wouldn't be emailed. Just the one's that have changes made to them AND where the webmaster has chosen to receive these special archives.
I have been advised of over 2,500 matches to my family tree.I have made a listing of all the sites and it fills 6 pages of A4. I did this in order to quickly find one when I need to research it.
Now why aren't these sites sent in alpha/numeric sequence because they will not sort on your advice.
Also, all of a sudden I cannot see the details of the matches due to "strict settings". I changed my settings to the least strict settings and I stil cannot see them - I could about six days ago.
Looking forward to your reply soonest as I have a lot of research to do from you last advice of smart matches.
what has happened to the name of sites in the site field when searching for other sites with the same names. I am sure they used to be there, it is almost impossible to have to go through every one by viewing as to see who they are as most are posted as private. with a site name at least I can remember which sites I dont need to look at.
In fact it would be useful to have a switch or something to use to stop sites that completely block you out. they are a waste of time
First many thanks for your wonderful and very good looking program. I use it with much pleasure.
One point though I would like to see implemented. In a large tree it is hard to keep an eye on the line to a preferrred person when navigating through the tree. But when I put my mouse over a person, instantaniously it tells me how many persons that person is away from a selected preferrred person. The information clearly is available.
So, would it be possible to indicate the line of relation with the preferred person for instance by making the relationsline thicker, or in a different colour? That would make it so much easier to navigate the tree and choosing the right brother or sister right away, instead of having to guess and doubleguess and retrace so many times.
Keep up the good work, and many thanks for the results so far.
I have invited some family members to my site. As it is now, the Family News on the front page says: [This and that person] joined the site. Send a greeting.
This is a bit misleading, since This and that person hasn't yet joined the site, but they rather have been invited to the site. So, my suggestion is that the text of [This and that person] joined this site will be replaced by [This and that person] has been invited to this site.
Probably I will make many more suggestions in this forum in the near future. This doesn't mean that I am here as a complainer to criticize this womderful software and to fill this forum with complaints, it is rather to make my own suggestions as a contribution to perhaps make the software become even better than it is today.
is there a possibility to add this feature:
ONLY the Site Managerwill recieve updates and news regarding birthday, and the other members of the family site will NOT recieve any updates ?
I got a MyHeritage Newsletter email today stating that "[This and that person] joined the site" for every person in my family tree that I entered an email address for yesterday. This is VERY misleading. These people have never been invited to join my site, and they are people that I don't want to invite!!! I can only hope that MyHeritage didn't automatically invite them!!
This feature also caught me off guard and now, I have received complaints from an irate aunt and step-mother. From the aunt:
The site should advise you that any email will receive an automatic response that invites them to join in 'your' (the person adding the email) name.
I kinda feel like they "stole" my email and my name. I can't shake that feeling since I had no input about what happened. I really must protest that it happened.
I really enjoy the site, but there should be some descretion on some things that protect people from intrusion.
I have been suggesting this elsewhere, and it has been a quite controversial request, so it seems. I would like the following option added to Family Tree Builder: As it is now, I can see a list of all members that have a photograph attached. What I would like to have is a list of members that DO NOT have a photograph attached (this in order to have an overview of which photographs that yet have to be collected from my family members).
I think that would be a great improvement for my own needs.
Wallpaper or background designs for pages in tree. You can offer a few designs and/or an individual can upload their own.
Also, a favorites page would be great! That way you can see how much alike or different family members are. An individual can customize this page; such as:
1. Top 3 favorite Foods 2. Top 3 favorite movies 3. Favorite types of music
4. Favorite Sports 5. Favorite Color 6. Favorite subject in school
7. Favorite book(s) 8. Favorite pets and their names. 9. Concerts or plays attended
So Forth and so on. Also a background page where you can list all of the schools you attended and the city & state they are located. All the type of jobs you have held or done or places where you worked. Places where you've traveled. Places where you lived.
Okay so looking at my smart matches, I see places where I'd like to update Mine to add some of there's What about if I could just drag Individuals up to my tree, and poof they are in.
Not exactly drag'n'drop, but the new merge-tool with the premium membership will let you merge a person or part of a tree with your own. Both with smart matching of the personal data, or with automatic merge, overwriting your own similar data. The only concern here is that the spelling of peoples names is different in almost every tree, and you have to be careful to select the right person to merge when doing so. A dragdrop, or a possability to draw lines between your tree and the smart match results to graphically and fast define which persons that match would be a real treat!
I strongly agree, it is a pain when you can't even "cut" and "paste" the visible information. I (as I am sure others do) have to open notepad and type it in there, then cut and paste it to my tree.
There are several areas where being able to cut and paste data would be useful.
On the web, I am pretty sure it is a function of the type of programming language they are using.
Still. considering the quality of what they offer I almost feel bad complaining.
I entered mail-addresses for some of my relatives in America and they got the welcome message from MyHeritage in swedish which is my native language. They didn't understand at all.
When I put an email address to invite someone I would like to be able to choose which language the invitations should use.
