Our program isn’t supposed to send birthday reminders of people who are deceased.
Do you have a situation in the birthday reminder email that is sent to you, of a person who is deceased? If so, are you sure you marked this person as deceased?
Thank you for your response. I am not subscribed for e-mail reminders at my uncle's site; however, in the "Upcoming events" section I see notification of upcoming b'days, among them - b'days of people marked as deceased. It is OK to get reminders of these events; what is not OK, is to see links "Send XXX a greeting" and "Buy XXX a gift", where XXX - a name of a person that is not among the living anymore.
I feel the same. It shows the b'day of the deceased on the right where the "upcoming events" section is. I think it should instead show the death anniversary of that particular person.
when working on photo section, drag and drop from one album to another, the section on the side runs away through all the photos of people that you have tagged.
there is an icon that shows as a no entry sigh to say you cant put the photo into an individual but would it be possible to stop the selection of people scrolling down like a formula 1 racer and just have albums showing?
Is it possible, that when I send in a question for help or technical support to you, that you could include the facility for a copy of the question to be e-mailed to my address so that I have a record of it.
1) Allow for adoptions... example: Mom has baby ... Marries someone other than babys father... that person adopts the baby... make it so that we can put adoption and that the baby shows up under Mom and Husband..instead of just under Mom...
2) Allow sites to merge so that two sides of family can link their trees witout combining them... example: wifes sister gets married..her husband has his own family tree... want to make it so we can click on his name to get his tree..and even to include it in print outs...without having to combine them into one site.
3) Fix calendar events...so that we can use site as a family gathering place.. example: Son has a baseball game....be able to add that..etc
Regarding adoptions. We currently support this in our Family Tree Builder software and we are working on incorporating it into the web site as well. Stay tuned.
Regarding links. Again, we are planning this feature to link between two sites in the near future.
Events. Again, adding events is actually planned to be implemented very soon, hopefully in a month or two.
Thanks for your feedback, Grobbler. We are working on ALL the items you requested at this moment. It will take a couple of months but all three of your requests will be available, please stay tuned.
I have searched your FAQ's but am unable to find out how I delete a comment posted on my site. Could the Site Administrators or another member tell me how to do this please.
Hi,
Comments are posted on specific items, like site member profiles, individuals in the family tree, photos, etc..
In order to delete a comment, go to that page (for example, if the comment is on a photo, go to the photo page).
At the bottom of the page you will see the set of posted comments.
To the right of each comment there will be a small x icon. Click that icon in order to delete that comment. Note that you need to be logged in as the site manager in order to be able to delete comments.
Best regards,
Thanks. You are right, we are aware of this issue and will fix it in a few weeks along with implementing several other enhancements to the homepage "newsfeed".
Best regards,
please realize the following feature. I would like to write the introduction on the home page in some languages (at least Russian and English). For example, the main language is russian - the introduction is on Russian and near the introduction could be a link ENG or GER or FRA or FIN and so on.
Thanks for your suggestion,Nadya. We actually considered doing this in the past, but decided against it because apparently not that many Site Managers speak 2 or more languages -- we haven't received requests for this (you are the first) and the complication to the database would be considerable. We are even unsure about the site manager introduction message as a whole, because it often sets some kind of master-servant expectations ("I am the site manager, you guys are mere visitors") which may make family sites less collaborative. That's why we are not too keen at the moment to invest more efforts on the welcome message, as in making it more multilingual.
Best regards,
Gilad
The image viewer has a serious deficiency. You can magnify an image, but there is no way to move the image around in the window. So, if when you magnify an image, the area that you are interested in goes out of the window, you cannot see what you were interested in. Please make the image viewer more useful.
I would very much prefer it if we could have the option of choosing "husband" or "wife," rather than "partner." Or even if we could choose "spouse." There is still legal difference, in most cases, between a partner and a spouse. We should be able to reflect that in our trees. Future generations should be given all information--if there was a marriage, then there will be records. A "partnership," unless it's a civil partnership, would probably have no paperwork, therefore, no documentation for the family historian.
In the Netherlands, we make a lot of use of baptism instead of birth and burial instead of death (before 1811 from most people only the baptism date and burial date are known, birth date and date of death weren't commonly written down). This makes it difficult to use this software, because it takes a lot of time entering all the baptisms and burial dates. Maybe it is possible to integrate it in the person card and main page of each person? It would improve the software very much or Dutch users.
In the UK, civil registration of birth and death only occurred after 1837. Therefore, pre-1837 it is usual for only the baptism/christening and burial dates to have been recorded.
In the family tree pedigree layout, both Modern and Classic only show a person's dates of birth and death (ie John Smith 1800-1851). Details such as his christening/burial dates can only be seen in the sidebar. So if you only have John's christening/burial dates, his card in the pedigree layout will just say 'John Smith', no dates at all.
I would very much like to be able to see baptism/christening/burial dates included in the pedigree layout. So I could see something like 'John Smith, 1801-1852').
