An additional 2 buttons would be a great assistance to processing SmartMatches
Button 1. A button to confirm all matches on the current page only.
Button 2. A button to reject all entries on the current page only. This would be great as it takes 100 buttonclicks to reject 50 entries on a page. I have 4500 smartmatches between a tree of mine and someone else and a quick lokk tells me that the last 30 odd pages will be rejects. That could be 1500 rejects with 3000 button clicks.
The program treat half-sisters and brothers as if they were not a part of the family. It is often difficult to obtain half-siblings in the same view that parents and sisters and brothers and spouses o children. It feels like an outdated approach to say the least.
I have been using Family Tree Builder for 3 years now and its awesome. I have a Premium Plus plan.
I have two suggestions which can make editing informationusing the Family Tree Builder a bit less cumbersome:
1) We need a way to manipulate the Dates and Addresses of photos in a batch. Its cumbersome to open and copy and paste date and address in each photo of a particular family event one by one.
2) Consider a Nuclear family unit having a mom dad and kids and maybe grandparents. Most of the time they all live at the same residence and so we end up copying and pasting the same address again and again for each member. And since there are multiple lines of text in any addresses, it must be copied and pasted again and again. And if the whole family moves then its actually quite irritaing to go back and update the addresses again. So maybe you guys and add a field to each individuals address page. There would be a check box "This person stays at the same address as some one else". After you checkmark that option, it would allow you to link the address of that person to some other person - say a child's address is linked to his dad-s such that whenever you update the dad's address, the same is reflected for the child.
Maybe there already exisitng workarounds for these. If anyone knows do let me know. Otherwise it would be great if the Family Tree Builder team can think of adding such improvements.
A GPS Coordinates field for each address would also be really great. So would be automatic tagging of address of photos whoes GPS coordinates (from EXIF) match up with those of an address in the database.
I wanted to create a book starting with my grandfather and it was in Descendants format, so that it would start with him/wife and work down to Great-Grandkids.
Problem is that it starts number1 person as the youngest Great-Grandkid and the person starting the book (my grandfather), it lists him at the end around number 80.
Is it just me, or shouldn't it be the other way around? Grandfather is #1, wife #1, kids #3-x, etc???
I have sent you a message to your personal email address.
Let me know if you didn't get it
The report/chart is ok, it's the book that's the problem. When you create a book, it's in reverse order (newest person first, working backwards to the starting person... it should start with the oldest person and then go forward from there). I am going to create another book and leave it in my account for you to look at, and I'll reply back with a few things I think could be improved upon to make this site the top Genealogy site (ancestry is difficult).
Let me know if thiat make more sense.
If there's any input/testing I can help you with, please let me know. My dad traced us back to 1796 and took him quite a few years, I would love to carry on his research and be able to offer my family (it's huge) books for each specific family.
Sometimes I will have children listed with mother and father, only to find out later that there was a different mother. As far as I can tell, the only way to correct this is by disconnecting from both parents and reconnecting with the father and right mother. Would be nice to have a more simple way to do this. Maybe have a "switch mothers" button or something like that.
I've just had an embarrasing situation arise - someone sent me an email about my family tree, and I didn't recognise him as someone I'd been in touch with via Smartmatches.
It would be nice if there was some way of being able to view the comments we send to other tree owners when initiating or confirming Smartmatches, either on the web site (like the Inbox) or by having a copy of the email sent to the other person also sent to ourselves. If the latter, it could be something we choose to receive or not by checking or unchecking a box for it.
I understand that you are referring to the email reminders that you receive. If you click on the link in these emails, you will be taken to the site, and there you will be able to see which tree this Match is for.
However, I understand your suggestion, and I will pass it on to our development team.
