thank you for the answer. Would you mind to write me the names of trees which have less then 3000 members and do not show Family menu? You can write me on firstname.lastname@example.org (in case you do not want share the names of your site on forum). I will check it for you. Please note that we wish to offer it in bigger trees, but at the moment we are unable. We have a good will to do it and not only you wish to have it in bigger trees but from technical point of view we are undable to do so - please accept our apology. There is many features in Premium and PremiumPlus plan which are not offer in basic plan.
Thank you for you understanding.
I just checked the trees I am a member of. The function is still there for most trees, but not for a few. It doesn't seem to matter whether FTB was used or the tree is on-line only, nor what level of subscription the webmasters have. Perhaps it is a privacy setting being used either on purpose or inadvertently.
thank you for the patient. I found out how to put tab Families back to your site. Please login to MyHeritage and then please enter this link: http://www.myheritage.com/site-families-184781522/profiles - then the tab Families will come back to your site.
Just checked the settings for all my trees (3) - they are all the same and I haven't changed any of the settings that I know of. The families function was there a week or so ago, but in now missingl Any help appreciated.
These trees belong to me and I am the administrator of them - no settings for any of them have been changed since the families option disappeared - all of them had this option a week or so ago. So I don't understand what might have happened.
I also have this problem and have tried to solve it as described above.I also get access - but not in the version of My Heritage I normally use. Is it correctly understood that the menu Families have disappeared and the only way to see families are to log on to an old version of our site - an older version of My Heritage - than we usually log on.
If it is properly understood, when do you expect it to come back in the current version? If it is not properly understood, how do I get the menu to stay in the new version of My Heritage?
Please, please can we have a search feature in the Smart Matches that we have already confirmed/rejected. I have hundreds of pages and would like to look up one tree owner. I am not going to be going through that many pages to find the one tree owner I need.
thank you for your feedback. Maybe it sounds easy, but it is not as you think. Please note that we are not able to launch each feature suggested by our users. We wish we could do it, however not always we can. We are working on Smart Matches improvments and I forwarded your inquiry to the right department.
Canned response (different wording, same meaning). I gave up trying to do anything productive with this site a long time ago. I'm just using it as an online tree to plug information into until I find another site that has A LOT more of the features I want.
You hit the nail on the head there!! There is a lot that doesn't work right at this site, I clicked on your profile to see if I could get your email address to send a message and I kept being taken to my home page on the site. The other day I couldn't get out of someone else's site and back to my own even after restarting my browser. Another member told me the method to do that.
Anyway, my reason for writing is this: have you ever tried Tribal Pages? I have had my tree on there for a long time and what I like about it is the privacy settings which can be as lenient or as strict as you would like. It is also way cheaper and way easier to use. www.tribalpages.com. The privacy settings on here are really terrible especially if you invite others to your tree. When stuck in the other person's tree the other day I could have changed the privacy settings had I been so inclined, that is terrible. Also, Tribal Pages has a "note" capability which I use to tell stories or explain my conclusions on certain ancestors and why I think they belong on my tree. Nothing like that here.
The privacy settings are fine as long as you don't invite anyone to see your tree which to me defeats the purpose of having a website such as this. There are 2 things specifically that bother me.
1. If I invite someone into my tree they can see everyone, even living family members. This is not acceptable as I have promised all living people that I will not expose any of their information on the internet. I expect there is a method of going to each living individual on my tree and making them private but I have too many and it would take a tremendous effort on my part to hide each one.
2. When I was "stuck" in someone else's tree the other day (they had invited me to be a member) I was shocked to discover I could do virtually anything I wanted even to change their privacy settings if I was so inclined. This is just not acceptable. Maybe this person had not set their privacy settings properly for this to happen I don't know.
The information regarding privacy settngs needs to be very much clearer on your website so each person is well informed about how their website is operating. Until that time I will keep my tree shut up as tight as possible and direct them to my online tree elsewhere where I can control what they see. I am quite happy to share my research but not when it exposes the information of the living people in my tree when I do not have their permission to share it with the world.
It will be nice, if I can see difference between sibblings in modern tree. For example, my ancestor had 9 chldren, and 5 of them died as child. Year was 1733, I doubt I will get any photo of 65 percent of persons in my tree. It is nice to have in Modern tree pink silhouette of woman and blue of man. But it will be better and nicer when the tree do the math with date of death minus date of birth and you get number 0-90. So children are 0-15.
When tree do the math and number will be between 0-15, it will change the pink or blue silhouette to slightly lighter pink silhouette of girl with 2 hairtail or blue silhouette of boy.
Or children dead between 0-15 years of age will have LIGHTER pink silhouette of girl or blue silhouette of boy.
In the same way that you find smart matches within other family trees on your site, it would be a spectacular feature to automatically run searches on all available data bases for every person in a tree and alert any matches. There are so many data bases, census and other sources where you offer search options in your research area which would take very long to search for every person in the tree. It would be nearly impossible logistically for a manager to run a search for each person, inventory searches done, and keep them updated with all the databases. If this was a proactive feature in which you ran those searches regularly, it would be a researcher's dream. tx!
My family tree created by Heritage is so long that printing and being able to read names is almost impossible. Does anyone know if there is a way to move family segments around within the tree in order be able to print it on either letter or legal paper and still be able to read the names, etc.
