A compromise might involve offspring for instance if a Miss Smith marries Mr Jones and changes her name to Jones they have a child then she remarries to a Mr Johnson and switches her name to Johnson and they have a child maybe when you are looking at each child the name the child was born under could show.
On the Tree Page menu bar (Tree, People, Reports, Charts/books, etc.) there was a choice to view Families which displayed all families in the tree, similar to the display of all people in the tree. The ablility to see all families in a tree is most important to me - it enables me to verify that I have the correct children with the correct parents, correct spouse, etc. in families where the parent married someone with the same or similar name in several geneations and where every generation seemed to name all of their many children the same! Also have siblings from one family marry siblings from another family and then procede to name all their children after their brothers and sisters! I realize that I can look at an individual's family from their profile page, but this does not help the situation described above. Please put the families function back as it was if it has been removed or tell me where to find if it's location has changed.
Thank,
Jeanette Titov
PS: Have any of you developers ever heard the old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." lol
thank you for your messages. The reason that the tab Families is not shown in all your sites it is that we only show this option in trees up to 3000 profiles - when the tree is bigger we are not showing it. We are very sorry for the inconvenience - but this is the way how the system works.
Thank you for understanding.
I have two trees in my site. Only one of them is larger than 3000 people and neither of the trees show the Families function. If I read your answer correctly, the smaller tree should show this function and it does not! Why not?
I find it very disappointing, to say the least, that MyHeritage tells one that by buying the more expensive plans that more features and unlimited trees will be available. To me this is false advertising and very dishonest. Instead of more features, features such as the Families function are taken away. One is not told that this will happen as the trees get bigger. What other features go away with no warning when a tree exceeds a certain size and why are we not told upfront that things like this will happen? Probably wouldn't make your product quite as appealing, would it?
thank you for the answer. Would you mind to write me the names of trees which have less then 3000 members and do not show Family menu? You can write me on support@myheritage.com (in case you do not want share the names of your site on forum). I will check it for you. Please note that we wish to offer it in bigger trees, but at the moment we are unable. We have a good will to do it and not only you wish to have it in bigger trees but from technical point of view we are undable to do so - please accept our apology. There is many features in Premium and PremiumPlus plan which are not offer in basic plan.
Thank you for you understanding.
Kind regards,
Justyna
I just checked the trees I am a member of. The function is still there for most trees, but not for a few. It doesn't seem to matter whether FTB was used or the tree is on-line only, nor what level of subscription the webmasters have. Perhaps it is a privacy setting being used either on purpose or inadvertently.
thank you for the patient. I found out how to put tab Families back to your site. Please login to MyHeritage and then please enter this link: http://www.myheritage.com/site-families-184781522/profiles - then the tab Families will come back to your site.
Just checked the settings for all my trees (3) - they are all the same and I haven't changed any of the settings that I know of. The families function was there a week or so ago, but in now missingl Any help appreciated.
These trees belong to me and I am the administrator of them - no settings for any of them have been changed since the families option disappeared - all of them had this option a week or so ago. So I don't understand what might have happened.
I also have this problem and have tried to solve it as described above.I also get access - but not in the version of My Heritage I normally use. Is it correctly understood that the menu Families have disappeared and the only way to see families are to log on to an old version of our site - an older version of My Heritage - than we usually log on.
If it is properly understood, when do you expect it to come back in the current version? If it is not properly understood, how do I get the menu to stay in the new version of My Heritage?
Please, please can we have a search feature in the Smart Matches that we have already confirmed/rejected. I have hundreds of pages and would like to look up one tree owner. I am not going to be going through that many pages to find the one tree owner I need.
Don't waste your time ... You'll only get a response along the lines of: "What a great idea! I'll pass it on to the development team." Canned response to EVERY suggestion.
Best thing I ever did was turn OFF stupid matches.
It seems to me that this request should not be that difficult to implement and would be of great benefit to your membership. Just another reason to wait out my year's subscription and not renew.
thank you for your feedback. Maybe it sounds easy, but it is not as you think. Please note that we are not able to launch each feature suggested by our users. We wish we could do it, however not always we can. We are working on Smart Matches improvments and I forwarded your inquiry to the right department.
Canned response (different wording, same meaning). I gave up trying to do anything productive with this site a long time ago. I'm just using it as an online tree to plug information into until I find another site that has A LOT more of the features I want.
You hit the nail on the head there!! There is a lot that doesn't work right at this site, I clicked on your profile to see if I could get your email address to send a message and I kept being taken to my home page on the site. The other day I couldn't get out of someone else's site and back to my own even after restarting my browser. Another member told me the method to do that.
Anyway, my reason for writing is this: have you ever tried Tribal Pages? I have had my tree on there for a long time and what I like about it is the privacy settings which can be as lenient or as strict as you would like. It is also way cheaper and way easier to use. www.tribalpages.com. The privacy settings on here are really terrible especially if you invite others to your tree. When stuck in the other person's tree the other day I could have changed the privacy settings had I been so inclined, that is terrible. Also, Tribal Pages has a "note" capability which I use to tell stories or explain my conclusions on certain ancestors and why I think they belong on my tree. Nothing like that here.
