Many users have not or will not sort the children into proper order.
Its not a difficult procedure but one that seems to elude many users.
I think FTB developers should consider the concept of Auto sort on input or auto sort on close down. That way we take away the inabilty of the user to publish scrambled data that still has to be sorted to align the children of any relationship. Particualry in the days when infant deaths often resulted in a second child bearing the same names, and it IS necessary to identify BOTH kids.
They always seem to be in order (in FTB) provided dates of birth are shown. And if you do not know the date of birth you most likely do not know the chronological order of birth. Of course if you DO know it is very helpful to arrange them in order of birth.
Dates of death are very important where a child has been named after a deceased sibling.
And how come I can insert dates of birth and death but it is not very unusual for the year of one or the other NOT to show against the name in the tree?
In FTB the chronological order of children is automatically correct IF you put in exact dates (not about, between, estimated etc.); if not, forget it. There is a function in FTB that lets you rearrange the children if you do not have exact dates and the order is then correctly shown in FTB, but this does NOT transfer when you publish the tree on-line--go figure. Changing the order of spouses also works in FTB, but again does not transfer when you publish the tree on-line. And believe me, I have tried everything and may even have complained about it a couple of years ago. So....there are a number of exact birth dates and marriage dates in my tree that are not really exact but estimated, because I know the birth order or the marriage order.
I have never had an on-line only tree, so I don't know what the story is with that.
Seems to me that not many users grasp the concept that a person may live at Location A - and Die at Location B and sometimes be Buried in Location C- and they can and often are very Different geographical locations but some users get them mixed, or ignored or more lkley dont understand the concept.
I would like to see a specific field for the Places of Death - place of Living at time of Death.
Often I find 'alternative places of death' in different matches and yours is the likely explanation. I often put in a Note such as, " Possibly lived at (often a tiny rural location) but may have gone to the hospital at (larger regional central town) at time of final illness".
Or in the related case of two contiguous suburbs or rural locations, "these towns are next to each other and if you lived between you could use either location name".
You're right. I didn't see this, because I'm not working with the FTB. I'm using it just for some GEDCOM maintenance/backup things.
Now, I had a look in the photo folder, created during import of the familysite GEDCOM I've downloaded before.
I can find for most of the photos totaly 3 versions. I pick one of these and can see the following:
- the original uploaded one (size 2048x1360 pixels, 0.98MB size)
- a smaller one (256x170 pixels, 19.3KB size)
- a small one (128x85 pixels, 5.45KB size)
If I'm looking into my photoalbum I can see:
- the smaller one as part of the album catalog
- the original one, if I open the specific photo (first rendered on the website presentation window, and the full size, if I click on 'view full size' button.
- the smallest one must be the iconized picture on top of the photo album view, I think.
Normaly, application should store the needed 'temporary' files in a temp folder and not in the 'real' data folder. Why this isn't done here, I don't know, because I'm not knowing the 'game behind the wall'.
So, unfortunately, I cannot help but I agree with You. This make no sense and just confusing the user.
Hi, would like to sugest the ability to remove a step connection to a family, My father passed away and was married to a woman whos children were evil and cultureless. They continue to try and adssocuate themselves to our family in Geni and other family tree sites. We would love the ability to be able to remove the connection to there family as they are not blood relatives and are an embaressment having our family name connected to theres in any way.
Of course you can remove ANYONE from YOUR tree, including THEM.
And of course another person can include ANYONE in THEIR tree, including YOU. (Of course you could ask them not to include you, with all the legal and personal relationship and happiness issues that might involve...)
I am inclined to include most people in my tree who have a connection that is not too remote to make it relevant, including a certain animal who abused his lovely daughters, and my wife's great uncle who was hanged for murder; because I want a factual tree. Not that I do not sympathise with your point of view.
Why is not possible to look at my posts on one page? Now it is not possible to send somebody link to my previous post in other thread. Only way to do this is remembering thread where it was, find your old post, listing pages as lunetic, then you can post link to some one.
Why is not at the top of each page, line with link like this "All your posts" as is standart in normal forums?
Oh I so agree with your post, BUT you must remember that this id Myheritage and for some strange reason they have a design format all theri own.
Your opinion and your comment and my support will not make any differnec if the "team" dont see it that way.
Oh they may say how much they agree with you, but check back in two years and I will wager that there is no change. This is myheritage and change is a difficult procedure -because they consider that its perfect now.
In the place where most of my family exist, there are a variety of places and methods for the disposal of human remains and more importantly there is a fee based tenure of license for the holding of those remains.
Generally in the past grave tenure was 100 years and slowly over time it’s dwindled such that in most cases now the tenure for cremated remains is 25 years.
Who knows what the future brings with objectivity now aimed at better and Greener procedures.
We must now consider statement like this proposal for the disposal of remains:
It is CCASA’s view that the draft Burial and Cremation Bill 2012 is a sound and solid attempt to
modernise and consolidate the existing Acts and Regulations into a single piece of legislation for
the disposal of human remains in South Australia.
Define reduced remains as:
“human remains that have been treated by a reduction process including cremation or
resomation or aquamation or promession..
Therefore I see the necessity for programs like Myheritage to be able to identify;
(a) The type of disposal- burial, cremation, resomation, aquamation, promession or whatever is developed in the future.
Have you ever been asked what your nationalities are and how much of each are you? I know I have and I've always had a hard time trying to figure that out. I think a great addition would be to add a Nationality Calculator that takes into account each persons ancestor's birthplaces to calculate percentages of each nationality. This could be inplemented in the same way the "Relation To..." works when you right click on a person in FTB.
