Thanks for your reply. I actually registered a new "site" / domain with a slightly different name, and uploaded to that one, and it worked 100%. So I havent checked the old one, but I suppose there is no need to, cause it works fine.
The easiest way to allow others to update your tree is to build an online family tree.
If you publish from FTB, neither you nor your sister can update it online.
If you are using FTB and want to continue to do so, you can send your tree as a package to your sister(she needs FTB on her computer) and she’ll make changes and send you the package back which you can publish later on.
If you have built a tree on FTB and want to now convert it to an online tree publish it on the site then export it to your computer and then import it back from the site.
I hope this answers your question.
If you have any questions about the above processes please feel free to contact me at email@example.com
If I am using FTB to maintain my family tree, when I upload to the family site, I now have two different trees, one on the family site and one on FTB. There is no way to update the FTB tree with changes from the family site or to update the family site with changes from FTB.
The only option is to upload a whole new tree from FTB to the family site. Or to download the tree from the family site as a gencom, and then import the gencom into FTB. The problem with that, of course, is if some changes were made to the tree on the family site and some changes were made to the tree on FTB, there is no way to capture both sets of changes, and it may not be possible to figure out what the differences are between the two trees.
Yes, this is the situation right now, the best way to build your tree is to first of all to decide where you want to base your tree! Either on FTB or on the family site.
If it is on the family site then every member can work on it and you can build your tree together but you will not be able to use some of the features of FTB that we do not have on the family tree.
And if you decide to work on FTB then it will only be you who can make changes on the tree, by editing it on FTB, but you can still publish your tree to the site and everytime you publish you basically update the existing tree, it's not a new tree every time. And your relatives, looking at your tree can give you suggestions as to what to add and whom to add to your tree.
Please feel free to write back if you have any other questions.
How do I dele the unknowns from my tree? I tried using the delete but they are still there. Would someone please help me I am really frustrated and I don't want to have to start all over been at this too long
I'm having the same problem and just wrote an inquiry directly to "support". The inability to delete the unknowns has really brought things to a standstill on my site. I made the unfortunate error of adding the wrong children to a second wife, and now have a long list of unknowns that I can't get rid of to correct the error. If I learn anything, I'll try to let you know. Please do likewise. Thanks , Roy
http://www.myheritage.com/site-8959751/worthen-web-site and I am the webmaster for that site also but I use another email account and the email account that i use for this site I lost it on my word pad when my computer crashed and I had to have it reformatted and me being stupid I didnt write it down in my note books or did i have my files on a back up CD.
I've spent the afternoon doing some extensive additions to my family tree, and came across a situation I can't figure out how to resolve. Basically, incest. [I'm not blood-related to the incident, my mom was adopted! :)]
Apparently back in the late 1700s/early 1800s, one of my "relatives" had a bunch of children, as usual. I entered only one of them and followed his line down to a certain point, before working from that point backward again to enter the other "side" of the family. I eventually got to a man who was ALSO the son of that first distant relative. So basically, his two sons went off and got married and had kids and grandkids etc, until the great-great-etc grandkids from the two lines got married to each other. Does that make sense?
So... is there a way I can connect the other son to the father, even though they were entered separately?
In the Family Tree Builder Right click on the child you want to attach to the parent to, a list will open, point to parents then click attach parents. This will open the people list for you to select the parent to attach to the child and will show in the tree when published. I hope this helps.
I upgraded my plan and the money was paid for the upgrade, and just as soon as the money was paid, a message came up from MyHeritage and said upgrade not successful. The message said I needed to reenter my information and the page it was wanting me to re-enter was the payment page. I did not reenter this and pay twice. I know my money was paid for the upgrade because I got my confirmation email from PayPal saying that my subscription for the Gold plan had been paid for 1 year. My plan was not upgraded though, and my tree is blank. The information is on the other pages but the family tree page is blank. I looked at my account page just before starting this letter to you, and it still says that I have the basic free plan. I have emailed you several times and gotten no response from anyone at support. I am very unhappy with this. If I had known that you couldn't get any help from support especially where money is concerned, I would never have tried to upgrade my website. I would really like to have what I paid for. I tried the website for only a couple of weeks before I upgraded and was well pleased with everything so I decided to upgrade and after the money changed hands, all the problems started. Please try to get this straightened out for me. Thanks Phyllis Robinson
As per our conversation through support, your site has been upgraded properly. The upgrade begins on April 21, 2008 - no time on your subscription was lost.
The reason for the delay in upgrade is due to the type of payment used on PayPal. When a "Vcheck" (virtual check) payment is made, with a debit card for example, there is a delay until the time that the payment is cleared.
Please know that this may take several days depending on the bank from which the transaction occurs.
This is the reason your upgrade did not occur immediately. We currently monitor all Vcheck transactions daily and make the upgrades manually in cases where it is needed.
If you or anyone else made a payment and the upgrade did not happen, please write to firstname.lastname@example.org with PAYMENT in the subject line. We will take care of your upgrade right away without loss of time paid for.
