I added the parents to my mother in-law along with her sisters after she was already on the tree. Now on my chart she's now shown as having a separate father from the rest of the siblings. Is there any way to connect them w/o having to delete?
Love this site by the way! I am adopted and have found my birth family. I have already entered my adopted family information. (Nixon family ) I would now like to make a tree with my husbands info and then in that tree put my birth family info. (Lynch/Dyer) Is this possible?
I am new to all this so can us all the help I can get!
If you are trying to do two different trees then it's no problem, in one tree you can write one piece of information and in the other one another. Unless you choose them to be these trees will not related to each other in any way so you can write in one of them your adopting and in the other one your adopting parents.
Let me know if you need more information with this.
I cannot get my grandmothers picture in the family tree with her husband. Her picture is tagged but I cannot find the way to add it to the chart. Also she was his 1st wife but on the chart she is listed as 4th wife. Probably something i've done but I need to correct . What do I do ? Her name was Emaline Virginia Moses.
Please take me through the steps to change mt FTB to a family site. I would like all members of my site to make changes. I read where I must export than import my site but still do not know how this is done. If this posses to much of a challenge and hopefully is not to difficult can I delete this site and start another site without losing my gold membership or transfer the membership to the new site. Thanks Don
making an online tree is quite simple, I will try to take you through the steps, if you need more detailed information please write to me at email@example.com and I'll send you an explanation with screen shots.
So here's what you do:
go to myheritage.com and to Family Tree>Manage trees.
Here you will see a list of your trees.
just above the list you will have the option of EXPORT GEDCOM. Click on this and in this next screen you can choose which tree to export choose your tree and save it somewhere you can later on find easily.
Then go back to the tree screen and click on import GEDCOM. now you can browse your computer for the gedcom you just exported and import it back to your site.
This procedure will let you hvae an online tree that you and members of your site can edit!
I have done all that and it doesn't work. I have three unkowns that seem to be tied together. The oldest ate the end of the string dio not have edit buttons the third does but since one of the unknown is shown as her mother it will not delete her either.
When you go to the photos and albums sections of the page, you will see more actions.
Here you have the option to download all the pictures in a specific album, if you would like to download a specific picture then at the down left side of the picture you have the options regarding that picture.
As far as I understand what you want to do is connect people who already exist on your tree, in a different way.
To do this you can use the attach detach tool in FTB.
So Attach, as opposed to Add, lets you draw a connecting line between two people who are already in the tree, and Detach removes that connection but without deleting any of the individuals. For each type of relationship there is a way to Attach or Detach. For husband and wife this feature is located in the "Spouses" menu. For children it is located in the "Children" menu. For parents it is located in the "Parents" menu.
There are multiple ways to reach these menus in order to invoke the Attach or Detach functionality. They are all the same so you can pick the one you find most convenient.
A) On the main menu, under Person -
You can reach the Spouses, Children or Parents menus.
B) By clicking on the EDIT button on an individual's genealogy card
C) By clicking on the EDIT button in the "Family" section.
My recommendation for using the Attach/Detach feature is to access it through the MANAGE function (e.g. Manage Spouses or Manage Children). You can always do an Attach/Detach without using this screen, but in the MANAGE screen you can see and adjust ALL details at once, which is very helpful.
