If there are duplicate people in two GEDCOM files that are uploaded, they will remain duplicates and will not be consolidated, you will need to delete the duplicates manually. We intend to provide more advanced features for merging GEDCOM files and consolidating duplicates, in the future.
Hi...How do I delete them manually? My Father shows 2 spouses...both my Mother. I do an edit spouses and via Manage spouses i perform detach. The duplicate spouse goes away and I save the project. Upon reload it's back again. This is very frustrating. Please help.
i changed my mind...i dont want to delete our family website anymore...now, i want to add events...how can i add one if everytime i click ''add event'' the ''coming soon'' pop-up appears? so when is that coming soon? please have it fixed very very soon...
As for now there is no way to `connect` members trees what you can do is contact the webmasters and ask for them to share the information with you.
We are working on the feature to merge trees and I hope it will be available very soon!
If you have an online tree, members of your site can see and make changes. As for quests although they can see most of the information on the site if you choose, they do not have the privilege to edit your tree. This is so in order to protect your privacy. If you want guests to edit your tree you need to invite them to your tree as members!
If you have built your tree on FTB and then published it then no one else but you can edit the tree. You need to make all your changes on FTB and then republish.
So now if you have an FTB tree and want to convert it to a tree which members can edit you can have an online tree by completing the following steps.
Open your family tree in Family Tree Builder.
Go to File > Export Gedcom.
Now go to your family site.
Click on Family Tree > Import Gedcom.
Browse your computer to find the gedcom you just created.
Click upload and that's it!
Now you have a family tree that you can work on online. **Keep in mind that the Import Gedcom feature on family sites will not include photos. You'll have to include them separately.
If you need help with any of this, please let me know.
Hi, If you are working in Family Tree Builder: You can export a project from your Family Tree Builder. You will need to export the projects as a package. This will export the photos also. You can go into your FTB family tree and press File > Manage Projects. Here you will have a list of all the projects. You can choose the one that you wish to export and press export package. You can then save the file on your computer and you can use any cd burning program that you have to burn it to a cd. If you are working on a tree online on your family site: Open a browser and log into your Family Site on MyHeritage.com, then go to the Family Tree tab > Manage Trees in your Family Site. Click the ‘export GEDCOM’ link on top of your list of family trees. This will save your family tree to your computer as a file with a .ged extension. Once you have the file downloaded, you can use any cd burning program that you have to burn it to a cd. Note- This gedcom file will contain your entire project , except for the photosPlease let me know if you have any further questions.Best Regards,Esther / MyHeritage team
If you have an online tree, all your members can edit the tree, if you have a tree published from FTB only you can edit information on FTB and then publish it on the site.
Other than this you can define the status of your members as member/webmaster by going to your address book where you will find a list of your members and when you view them you will see actions on the site.
after I posted on yours i wrote the support staff. In the meantime i found this on the message boards.
If you would like to delete a family site, write to support@myheritage.com.
The family site link MUST be included in the email. The link is the URL or the website address of your site. It looks something like this: lastname.myheritage.com
Please do not send the title of the site as there may be many sites with the same name. We will not be able to delete your site with the title or site name.
I have, by mistake, loaded one to many family trees with two diffrent names and I am woundering how to delete one family tree web site that I don't want and keep the one that I do want. Thank You Emilie
I built my tree with family tree builder, I can see everything on my sight except my tree...? just stays on loading tree (stayed there forover an hour and never did load-whats up there Help
Hi,Could you please try to load your tree again and let us know if you are still having difficulties? Also, if you are stillhaving problems, please write to me at esther@myheritage.com and specify to us exactly what is happening, so that we can better diagnose the problem.
Apart from my other posts I also now have these few well-meant questions and remarks:
Privacy issue
I have a "mixed" site with guest access to Family Tree but no guest access to Photo Albums. A guest will now not see the slideshow on the homepage, and viewing the family tree the guest will only see first names and photos of deceased people, but if the guest clicks on a living person then all their associated photos are shown at the left and clicking on one of them will disclose their first name and moreover will show the names of all people in a group photo. Which completely defeats the intended privacy protection of the mixed site mode.
Please just tell me you are aware of this issue and are working on it.
A compliment
Much to my satisfaction I saw that after logging off, pressing the back-button in the browser does not get you back to a "private" part of the site. Which is more than many an on-line bank takes care of. (Think twice before you access your on-line bank from an internet cafe or at an airport.)
Possible privacy issue
On the faily pages homepage when I access the "Who viewed this?" from the Visits box, there is one single "foreign" name who is not a member (prickles07). Now when I click on "Profile" to view his profile I get a mix of my own profile and his. That's to say instead of his "Essentials" and "Interests and Recommendations" I get my own. But the list of site memberships is his.
Please let me know if you are, or are not aware of this issue and the latter case need assistance in reproducing it.
Is the cause of the bad speed...
indeed due to the Mossat listening in to all traphic to and from Israel as I read somewhere on the net? Or is it just too little bandwidth at your end, or server overload? I would like to be of assistance in any of these cases, I have connections here in the Netherlands for good high bandwidth server/application hosting deals, specialist web 2.0 SAAS technology and scalability troubleshooting, and possibly also investor relations. I am in part responsible for The Netherlands' largest, most successful and most state-of-the-art high volume SAAS company Reeleezee.com (on-line accounting / bookkeeping)
Are you both being taken seriously enough?
Success of a SAAS product depends mainly on four things:
• Having a "smasher" product and name for the current market and a brilliant creative team (you have that)
• Being fast, and being quickly scalable to growing demand
• Good testing and quality assurance of new product releases (have a restricted group of beta customers who do the final testing for you, don't you need an application version string in your URL?)
• And finally and probably the most important: a good customer support department which offers good and speedy response to ALL customer enquiries. Any (temporary) shortcomings on the first three can be made good for by this.(Reeleezee offer free-phone which amply pays for itself by the word of mouth that it itself generates).
The difference between success and being overtaken by competition and subsequently dwindling into oblivion, is all about these four things, and the "word of mouth" that comes from that and builds your name.
Answers to these questions will determine whether I will consider upgrading to a paid account with MyHeritage.com. And obviously also whether I will recommend friends and the members of my growing family tree to do the same. I do wish you the best. Your team definately does not lack in creativity and visionary leadership.
1. I have looked at your family site as a guest, and nowhere did I see pictures or first names of living people. This has been resolved.
2. MyHeritage.com is currently home to 235 million people (profiles) in 3.75 million family trees contributed by users of MyHeritage and published online, in the 23 languages supported by our site. We are growing at the pace of a million new people every 2 days, and this pace is itself growing. We respect the privacy of our users and have earned their trust.
3. We are aware of the bug you are describing. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. We are working on fixing it.
4. Thank you for your offer, I will forward it to the appropriate department. Above all, thank you for your comments and suggestions.
Please let me know if you have any other ideas as we greatly value such input from our users.
when referring to myspace pages.....i had a meter in my "about me" section and i wanted to move it, so i re-did it and put in in the "interests" section where i want it. but now i have 2 look a like meters on same page....HOW DO I DELETE THE ONE I DONT WANT?
If you'd like to remove your collage or Morph, you'll have to delete the HTML code.
The HTML code is usually displayed in the "About Me" or "My Interests" section of your profile.
What you need to do is go to "Edit Profile" and find one of the above categories. You'll recognize the HTML code for the collage/Morph because it has MyHeritage written in it somewhere.
What is important, is to delete ALL the code, but not to delete code from other things you've added to your profile.
What I suggest you do is to cut/paste the code to a word doc or something and then go back and view your profile to make sure you got the right code. That way you haven't deleted anything important by accident. And you can save your collage/Morph if you want to post it at a different time.
