On the "Welcome" page, under "What's Next", there is an item "Enter more addresses for the family address book ". This is the only place I have found where I can enter phone and address info. And the only way I have found to view the info is to export a GEDCOM file into a different geneaolgy program. If what you say is true, "Once they accept to become members they have their profiles and it's only them who can make changes on their profile", then why is it letting me enter address information for other members? And why have a way to enter addresses and phone numbers if there is no way to view them?
Thanks for a fabulous progam that is not like anything I have ever came accross! But a few days ago I imported a second Gedcom file and afterwards my welcome page went askew, or something like that! The MyHeritage bar on top now sits on the left hand side of the page and the welcome message on the rigth hand side of the page! Is there a way I can set this right again?
I'm having this problem too. I see your original post is 23 days old. I've only been having this problem for the last three days. I cannot access the main page at all. I just get a server timeout message. I can access other pages, but I'm also having trouble with the Tag People feature, but I guess that feature is still in Alpha testing. For some people it doesn't show all of the photos that they appear in--even though they've all been tagged.
I am also having trouble downloading the user guide. Adobe Reader tried to open it but there is an error. I suppose it did not finish downloading. I cannot locate the temporary file it used so I can delete it and try again.
I too was unable to download the user guide from FTM help, getting only an error message. However, I was able to download it directly from http://web009.myheritage.com/public/manuals/manual_en.html, and thought I would leave this message in case anyone else was looking for the link to the PDF manual.
I would like to ask about translating the FTB and WEB to Slovak. I received an email on the 8/3/2008 about new version 2.0 of FTB, where you are asking for help with translating to other, yet not supported languages. I answered to translate@myheritage.com, but nothing happend yet. To be true, I do not have time for daily translating (with the wife and two children), but I find some translations not correct (on the WEB, FTB is still without Slovak) and would like to help with translation, correct in concrete context. Now I have e.g. these remarks:
- "Details" is translated as "Podrobnosti" in many places, but can be "Detaily" (singular "Detail") – it's commonly used in Slovak, understandable and shorter
Some others:
English; Proposed Slovak;Current Slovak; Comment
Info; Informácie (or Detaily); Informácia; link on the right-bottom of each person in the List
Slideshow; Prezentácia; Prehliadač fotiek; icon label in the menu on the top in Classic style; too long for that menu
Delete; Zmazať; Zrušiť; "Delete this person" or "Delete" anywhere (there's no difference between Cancel and Delete now)
Alive; Nažive; Žijúci/a; checkbox in the person detail dialog
Add son; Pridať syna; Pridať brata; Modern style: after pressing (+); incorrect translation, means "Add Brother" (it's twice there)
Loading; Nahrávam; Ukladám; during loading the tree design and tree itself
placeholder; všeobecný obrázok;vlastníka; located in Family tree - Print charts

I can't get it to come up. The names are still there when I look at them in the "people" section.
I fear that I've lost them all and I hate to re-enter all those names.
I saw someone else had the same problem and you told them to hit "refresh" several times. I don't know what that is. I have a Mac. Do I have a refresh button?
I am writing a few words on the Oxford of my boyhood in the 1940s and 1950s for my Grandchildren. I have got to the stage of writing about the shops in the city centre but my memory is lacking a lot of detail. I would like to be able to write a little about shops such as Macfisheries, Lipton's, Grimly Hughes, the Continental, Webbers, Elliston & Cavell’s and Capes to name a few. I have looked for books, information on Oxford in the 1940s 1950s but the market is stuffed with information on the university not the town.
Has anyone got any suggestions?
Why can't I install the java applet required when looking for ansestors? What am I doing wrong and how come there is no support info about this installation? Help!!!
I know that they are there, but when I go to view the family tree/s that I have uploaded, they just don't load, in either classic or modern view. I got to My website, click on the tab for the "family tree", then select the sub link for Tree.. nothing, nada.. I can see the people and family when I click on those links.
It has the "Loading family tree" words in the middle of the screen with the progress dots... but nothing happens. I don't register traffice thru my modem so I am unsure of what the problem is or where it is.
Did this fix work, I only registered yesterday on my PC at work and it is fine. Yet last night I couldn't load the tree when accessing from my home PC. I get the same thing just dots and loading but nothing happens. When I logged in today on my works PC the tree came up fine. Am I missing any software. Thanks
We looked at your tree and were able to see it just fine. I believe that you did indeed have a problem as you are not the only person that complained of this. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to reproduce the problem.
Please hit refresh a couple of times. This has solved the problem for most people and I hope it does for you too.
