Just adding to this since I have the same issue. My birthdate in my profile is correct and also in all applicable places EXCEPT the calendar which is one week off. Can admins check into this please.
When I imported my picasaweb photos, the tool did a fantastic job of grabbing the photos, comments, etc. However, I don't want to keep all the folders it imported. I would actually like to combine some of the folders and group the photos differently. I don't want to delete the pictures, just move them to a different folder.
How do I move photos from one folder to another?
Also, I cannot change an album's cover photo. The help at http://www.myheritage.com/help/2008/11/how-can-i-change-the-cover-photo-of-an-online-album/en/ doesn't work, as there is no CONTENT tab visible to me. Perhaps the site was redesigned since that help article was written? How do change the cover photo of an album?
Copy your photos from one album to the next,BUT make sure you click the little box to delete the photo from the current album. And this is essentially a MOVE.
Otherwise, you will get duplicate photos in the new album.
The Calender Alerts & Update alerts are useful but only want to receive it once a month - right now it seems to arrive a few times a week. Can I control how often I receive alerts? As it is we all suffer from email overload.
Hi, i'd like to print for christmas present, out familty tree but the pictures appear very poor quality. I used the PDF print from the site, because we use the site to manage the tree. The pictures quality is more than 300 dpi but on the pdf it's so poor.
How can i get the full pictures res PDF output file?
Does somebody know for the cases of identity steeling on this site? I am not expert for such problems, and this is why I ask the community about the problem. Is it problem at all?
My family members are adding to the tree, which is great. As it grows, how do I determine when it's time for a particular area of the family to split off on their own tree if it's diluting the family history that I'm interested in?
Are there any options to split the tree without requiring them to re-create everything again?
Click Save As, choose the folder on your computer you’d like to save to and click Next. In your case, you will want to give this tree adifferent name than your main tree. You may want to name it after the eldest ancestor in the branch you are exporting, for example.
If you wish to fill in author information or add a description to the file, you can do so here. It is not necessary though. Click Next.
Choose the language of the tree. Click Next.
This is the screen where you will choose a specific branch to export. Choose the “Include specific people only” option and click Select People.
Click Add to select people from your tree. I suggest you review your family tree before completing these steps and choose which ancestral branches to export. It will save you a lot of time when you get to this step.
Select the person you want to add. (In the next step you will choose if to include descendants, so select only the eldest ancestors).
For each person you choose, you can include Descendants and Spouses, Descendants only, Spouses only, or only This person. Use the Edit button to do this. When you’re finished click OK.
If you have pictures then you will have an option to save pictures here.
Click Finish. You have just created a new tree which contains a certain branch of your family only. **Exporting a branch from the family tree has no effect on the main tree.
In order to publish this tree, you will want to open it in FTB first. Go to File > Import Gedcom and import the gedcom you just created. Then publish it to your family site.
I have a family tree created and found out that another family member already has a tree set up for her part of the family on MyHeritage. How do we link the trees so that family members in one tree can still see the 'other' branches of her tree also?
THe developers should allow at least linking individuals in different treas, if not merging.
For example I have photos for many relatives uploaded to the web site. Thus merging the trees locally would not help because the photos would be lost...
Has MyHeritage come up with a way to link trees together yet?
(As previously stated, using the client is not a realistic nor amenable option).
If this isn't possible, then that almost makes the site useless to us, since our overall tree is going to be enormous. Parts of the family just aren't going to care about lots of the branches, and I know that most of the family is not going to pony up for a premium subscription. Many just want to put in their 4-12 leaves and be done with it. If we all have to work on a mutli-thousand-leaf tree, then I might as well stop now before I get any farther into this dead end.
Is there a way to download my tree back to my computer, because I've recently had to re-install the operating system on my computer and I've lost everything I had.
If you have published your family tree online, then there will be a backup on your family tree on your family site on MyHeritage. In that case, please follow these steps to recover the file:
Open a browser and log into your Family Site on MyHeritage.com, then go to the Family Tree tab > Summary page in your Family Site. Click the ‘Download’ link next to your family tree and this will save your family tree to your computer as a file with a .ZED extension. Once you have the file downloaded, open Family Tree Builder and click File > Open Project. Click ‘Browse’ and locate the .ZED file. This should restore your entire project, except for the photos.
Note: it’s better to be prepared next time for catastrophe. I advise that you frequently back up your family tree to removable media. The best way to back up your family tree is to use Family Tree Builder’s backup facility on File>Back up Project. It will save a single file, perfect for backup, that contains your family tree and all its photos and documents. Such a backup can later be restored using File>Restore Project.
Please let me know if you have any further questions
This is correct, except for the new format. Once you get to your family tree, you will have to change from "modern view" to "classic view" by clicking on the tab at the bottom right corner. Another recent change to this information, is that you can now download all of your photos as well. WEEEEEEEE!!!!!
