My concern is that YOU figured out how to open the file- how many thousands of users are in the dark.
I cannot believe that myheritage cant or wont make a fix for the stupidity of the sacres IT team. those beyond reproach and whose word is the law and law is the word. But thank you to the community!!.

To solve this kind of problems it's very hard, if you are a 'standard' Windows enduser. This users buy a PC with preinstalled windows (or install Windows at home). Everything looks good and you can start to work/play/surf/whatever. This is one of the vision of Microsoft, too. Do You remember the slogan 'Information at your fingertips'? The user should not know, what's happen behind the 'pink cloud' of the Windows desktop. This could be ... if you don't use your PC with some kind of spezialized software. At this point the life will not be very easy, sometimes ;-)
Wel well the smart thinking at myheritage shines once again. The reports folder has the file - but its a .TSZ file and cannot be opened.
I don't know if myheritage.com does this but some sites and/or software programmers use a file with an extension of .TSZ as a container for compressed data.
Rename your file from whatever.tsz to whatever.zip
and double click on it. Does anything happen?
If NOT, just for a giggle try renaming it whatever.zed
I think you will not hear from support for many days. I think the "new" software version they recently installed for you is very buggy and the support team is very very busy trying to find and fix the many errors :(
If you accepted the "standard" default settings when the Family Tree Builder software was first installed on your computer it is not likely that you have now lost much data [when you were trying to fix your problems yourself] :) There will be at least 3 files residing in your computer that are previous versions of the file that you think you have just mangled. The default setting for Family Tree Builder is that it automatically makes backups of your tree in case you want to restore a version you created some days before the most current (possibly "damaged") one. The backups are compressed and typically are named something like
BirgittaTree - 2013-02-28 13-29-39.zip
Also, every time you use Family Tree Builder to publish your tree to the myheritage.com another backup of the previous version is automatically kept online. If you published hourly or daily or weekly you will have many backups (of previous versions) online. I strongly recommend you do NOT continue working on your tree until the support team answer you. But DO relax - I very much doubt you "played with" the normal settings when you installed FTB so you will be fine :) You may have lost a couple of hours work but that's all. I do NOT work for myheritage but I am a software programmer; they're not even answering my ticket and that is VERY unusual. I am sure that they have a major problem with the new version and the fix is going to take several days :(
Help, I just paid for the premium upgrade to be able to load a family tree I created....but I can't find the Premium edition on my profile? I've looked at all the forums and FAQ's but tthey don't help much. One thng though...I was not able to do the confirmtion code on line. The site had gone down and I didn't get it entered....(it kept spinning on the call me.....I have reciept number, and an order number and confirmation numbers. It's already out of my bank account.....Help....
I was invited to my mother's excohabitant family tree and logged in to watch, what do I haveto do, to startmyown tree? I can't find where I do this, becauseeverytime I log in now I end up in his tree.:(
I am trying to find a solution to have a man and a woman having a baby without being married - on the familytree :-P
Even if I list them as "Other" the program insits they were married at one point.. I dont want the man and woman to be conected in any way other than that they are the biological parents of a child. There is no other conection - at all.
You can designate the relationship (as well as married, divorced, separated, widowed) as engaged, partners, friends (I used that once in this situation) annulled (I have one of those) unknown or other.
And the name could be 'unknown', or sometimes I use the name of the child here; say, 'Mary's father'.
Or if you know Mary's name is 'Smith', after the surname of the father, just call him (surname) 'Smith'.
Thank you for your response, but it doesnt help me much since - even if I chose "Other" the system claims they have been married. They are still listed as husband and wife on their profile.
I know the names of all parties involved and will be adding ancestors on bith sides so - argh this is really bothering me..
Okay, I am adding a man to my tree (in Family Tree Builder) with a nonsense name, with a partner, relationship 'Other' ; with a nonsense son. After it has been 'published' to the website I will check it out in the tree and the profile. Interesting.
And I have added a Wife, status Married, and a (really truly) daughter. Geoff.
Checked family tree on the web site. All showed in the tree as they should. No problems.
My Father had his first lady in his profile as Partner (not wife) with the son showing properly as their son.
Then the lady he actually married showed in his profile as his WIFE with the daughter showing as THEIR child.
As I said I do not know how the system works when you do not use Family Tree Builder, just the web; I can only assume it allows you to enter the same details so that they show in the profiles correctly.
I have a woman who had an affair with Brother #1, had the baby, and then married Brother #2. What do I do here? Brother #2 was considered the child's stepfather &/or "uncle". Actually both brothers were addressed as "uncles".
This is now getting to be infuriating. Family and friends must be thinking I am totally insane when I email them with the updates and promised additions to the family tree.
1. I have nearly 1500 individuals, with photos, certificates etc that I have been attempting to publish.
2. Only a 1/4 of those ancestors appear on the family tree - and even though they show that they have parents when you click on it nothing appears.
3. Up until this morning, when I have published I had been told there were just under 300 people on the tree. This morning I thought I'd attempt publishing again and suddenly it tells me I have over 2000 names there!
There is something seriously strange going on. Can anyone advise me what to do before I go quietly insane?
My widow is still shown on my profile as being my wife, even though it correctly shows her has deceased. Is there any way of changing this unhappy and distressing state of affairs?
