Thanks, Janine. Apologies for being daft, but I couldn't find the username field in my profile.
As a simple product improvement recommendation, I'd suggest MyHeritage should minimise the amount of similar fields it uses. For instance, there is a name that is used in the tree, another one in the profile, and yet another one as a username. That's bound to generate confusion.
When I am using the software (My Heritage) and data on my computer I am not able to see dates for living people. I understand this for people displayed on the website, but for working on individual records I want this information.
I want to say thank you for this fantastic website, however I have some problems with the Hungarian names. The Hungarian correct name order: <lastname> <firstname>
Unfortunately I can't find an option where I can set the naming order. How can I solve this problem?
There is another problem. My relative's name is Pintér Erzsébet. To show her name in the correct order, I put her firstname to the lastname's field and put the lastname to the firstname's field. Now her name is shown correcly: Pintér Erzsébet. Then I wanted to add her married name - Dobos Lászlóné - but the website puts the 'Pintér' name before the married name: Pintér Dobos Lászlóné. It's incorrect. In Hungary there are 3 different married name orders - :D - and sometimes it totally different from the original. How can solve this?
since I may only answer your question partially, I write in english.
In version 5.0 you can set the naming conventions by selecting Tools (Eszközök) -> Options (Beállítások) -> Names (Személynevek megjelenítése).
...which works well on the installed myhertige. When I then upload my family tree into the web, the names are turned around again. Someone might can further help.
For your second question, I couldn't find an answer, that's why I only use the maiden names for the married women...
So I go through the trouble of creating a site, down load your software, load a peice of my main gedecom and now I can't do anything with my work without upgrading. If you are going to pull that crap you should let us newbies know in advance so we don't waste our time. I wouldn't join now no matter what!!!
Hello,
I just switched from a PC to a Mac. Does family tree builder work with Macs? If so how can move my current project from my old PC to Mac or do I have to start all over again? Thanks.
Ronke
I recently upgraded to the 5. whatever and lost everything but my mother and father,I had info from my mother dating back to 1828 and now it's all gone WTH,although I have backup research,it was a pain to put everything there and what if I hadnt had the backup?then I would really be PO'd
2)Open up family tree builder (After you have reinstalled it using the l ink above, and go to Tools > options, and please tell me what is written under Projects directory -this is where Family Tree Builder looks to find your projects saved on your computer)
2) Run a search on your computer for files with a .zed extension (you can search for *.zed). These are your Family Tree Builder Projects, that are saved on your computer.
Please let me know what you find.
Thank you very much for helping us solve this issue!
Best Regards,
Esther / MyHeritage Team
I have downloaded the Family Book but each time it downloads my siblings partners it keeps saying they are married. I have double checked each person and they are definitley listed as either a 'Friend' or 'Partner'. Any suggestions?
I have the exact same problem. Emailed myheritage support and they said, "You can fix the relashinship type on the Profile page of the person." which, when I finally found the profile page, did no good. Status in the profile is as I entered it in the builder; but when I reissue a report the status reverts to "Married" even if I never entered it as such. Have you solved the problem? Hope so; this has been verrrry frustrating.
No still not solved...I have contacted My Heritage twice and haven't had a response yet. Really annoying...I have tried deleting and adding back on to no avail. This was going to be a gift for my Dad for Christmas.
I just noticed that when I publish an update to my tree, it no longer shows the new photos and documents I have added. It says I updated, but does not show what.
Have I messed with my settings? Anyone else have this trouble?
I would like to write a little bio on each member such as whether or not they graduated, went to college, served in the military or what they did for a living. Is this possible?
I can set the language on this site as Farsi, but when I use the My heritage software, there's no option. And when I ask it to update, in case it's soemthing new, it says it's the most up-to-date. how can i get Farsi as the secondary language on the software please. i don't want it as the primary on the website, but would help a great deal with the older members of my family if it had some Farsi on it.
