I've been editing my welcome message and have used the bold and positioning controls found in the text editor. Although I can see words are bolded in the editor they show up as normal text in the Welcome message. Is there a way to put in HTML markup like headline and center into the body of the Welcome message?
Please note, that currently - there is no option to turn of the notifications about specific family events.
However , in this case, I can suggest you the following: if you'll enter the birthdays dates for those individuals in "free text" format on their profiles - and then enter the dates manually - the birthday won't show up on the calendar and no notifications would be sent- but the date will appear on the profile details for each person.
In order to enter the date in free text, please go to the individual's card in the Family Tree Builder program > click on it twice to open it > click on the calendar icon next to the date line > in the "type" section, please choose "date in free text" > insert the date manually > save > re-publish the updated project to your family site.
In the Family Tree Builder it is possible to select if you would like the chart to be printed on one or multiple pages. This can be done by creating the chart and then clicking on "options" above the chart. Go to arrangement at the bottom of the window to change the settings between one or multiple pages.
Also, you may find this FAQ helpful, as you have a large tree:
when I follow the guidelines to delete a person (I press Delete this person on the left), it actually just changes the person to Unknown, but doesn't actually delete it.
Later, when I print ALL the persons in the tree, those unknowns occupy valuable space of the printout.
Please note, that it could be that this person, that you are trying to delete is attached to any other individual on your family tree.
Therefore, in order to delete such person, first - try to detach this person from other individuals on your family tree, by going to this person's card > click "add" on the left corner of the card > remove connection > choose to detach this person from his family > then please try to delete this person once again.
It seems, that I was always working in the Classic mode, and there is no Options in the Classic mode. And when I delete a person in the Classic mode it becomes unknown, and there are no buttons to get rid of relations.
Only when I switched to Modern tree mode, I noticed the Options button, and inside I found all what you're saying, and yes, I managed to successfully delete persons completely.
The new newsletter system of not showing the titles/authors of recent articles is quite a degradation in service--again--it is why we left MyFamily.com and came to MyHeritage because of the notices that contained the details of the changes. I think there should be an option to choose from, rather than this cold, cookie-cutter approach where only a "new updates" link is listed in the email.
I have not heard any positive comments about this change and really feel it is a step backward.
I really feel we are owed a refund, as we are not getting what we paid for.
This is very sad--I have 8 sites, but, again, I am going to have to start looking for a new home--I never thought this would happen and promised those who helped pay for the subscription (in some cases 5 years) that we would keep this as is for 5 years, if not better service.
I am glad I did not subscribe to some of the sites any longer than a year or so, as I doubt I will find many who want to help pay for it again, when the service has markedly deteriorated.
I should have realized that when you all did not follow through on the promise to make the FTB synch-able with the online tree so that we did not have to re-attach photo links every time we updated the gedcom or FTB upload.
I see this site is really only for the hobbyist and not for the true professional genealogy research enthusiast.
I will leave comments in the forum about this.
Please reconsider giving an option to use the old method also.
Thanks, Pat Walker
I want to print my family report but I don't want the silhouette icon on the pages. I have no pictures so they waste a lot of paper. My report is 30 pages and if I can remove the icons I think it would be a lot smaller. Any ideas if and how I can remove them?
For now there's no option to create the Book Report without the silhouettes.
If your Book Report is too long, you can select not to include some of the sections in your report:
open your family project in the Family Tree Builder and go to Reports > Book Report > Select the main individual for the report > Next > clear the check boxes of the sections you don't want to include in your report > Next > Finish.
Hi, my computer crashed some time ago and i lost my heritage builder. Recently recieved an email and was able to log into my site online after having to reset my password as it had been some time since being to the site. But found i could not add family members at the site as i needed to add sisters and brothers but the option to add from there was not possible as hovering over my parents photos did not show an add option. I was able to upload photos to the profiles of people who i had added before. I figured that i hadto download the tree builder again so i did that but now it seems i have to start all over again.??Is it possible to retrieve the information from the site back into my tree builder in my computer. Thanks.
I am having a problem in opening my family tree builder. It keeps sending "Send error report". I do and nothing happens. I tried downloading the download on the website same problem. Could you please help me out.
Can you send me a screenshot of the problem to support@myheritage.com ATTN: Jaiel
This will help me forward the problem to our development team for debugging. To take a screenshot, press the Print Screen key on your keyboard; it is the key labeled as “PrintScreen” or "PrtSc". This will copy an image of the MyHeritage screen to your clipboard. Once you have done this, click the Windows Start button in the bottom left corner and run MSPaint. It should be under All programs > Accessories > Paint. Once it's open, click Paste from the Edit menu, or simply press CTRL-V. Now you can save the screenshot as an image file and attach that image to an email and send it to me.
Please let me know if you encounter difficulty in taking the screenshot.
For Family Tree Builder albums, please note, that if you are using the Family Tree Builder to edit your tree you will not be able to change the order of the photos online. You will be able to do so however in the Family Tree Builder, under Photos > Albums. Click on the album you would like to reorganize, and drag the photos to the correct place in the photo list.
