I know when I add a second spouse to a person you will not see that person in the tree unless you specifly click on it but it will show up when I generate a chart. So I add the second spouse & their children but I get the feeling the software may not be able to show EVERYTHING but it is there when you enter it, just hidden.
Is that what you mean, that you enter the children into the tree but they don't show up when you view it in the Tree builder?
Within my chart I genertae if I have a person with 2 spouses & children to that relationship, it will often be displayed the second spouse on the outer edge of the chart I generated NOT linked into the actualy tre itself.
For example I have 2 females with 2 spouses...the chart in the tree will hvae this displayed next to the first female (1) & a (2) next to the next female...then on the side of the chart you will find another (1) & (2) with the name of the second spouse/children to female number (1) & so on for number (2).
So check the people who have more than 1 spouse & if they have a number next to their name on the chart you generated, then look for the same number loated elsewhere on the family tree which inicadets this (1) is linked to the other (1).
Confused yet LOL...
If this does not help then I have no further knowledge/experience on why your step children are not being generated apart from remeber to SAVE your family tree in the Family Tree Builder & then PUBLISH it so your family tree is updated within the web site of MyHeritage.
My question is, if I was to order a poster of my family tree, will the poster arrive in one 6 meter long poster of the tree OR will it arrive in many sheets that I then have to paste together (paper or canvas)?
I just got an e-mail from my sister telling me to remover her name, as well as my other sister and her 3 sons from my MyHiritage list. Can I be presucuted by law for having member os my legitime hiritage on my list?
This is happening in Australia and we are Portuguese decendents.
All my work today disappeared because the program all of a sudden shut down. When I opened the program again, it was the same as I opened it this morning. 8 hours with work is gone. I have tried to open the back up, but it is only this mornings 9 o`clock which appears. I don`t believe you can help me, but I was so frustrated and tired.
I sympathise with you on that problem; i've lost work in the past. Might I suggest going into the options screen and changing the settings on how often a backup is created...i've set my to every 15 minutes
Go to Tools then go down to Options; underneath the General settings you'll see Save AutoRecovery information every (in minutes), Save backup automatically every (in days) and save backup automically changes (in people)
Today I twice needed to add an existing family member to parents. On both occasions it looked OK until you do smart matches - then it says mum is dad and vice versa. To add insult to injury it has swapped the parents positions in the online tree. i.e Mum now on the left and dad on the right (although mum is still pink and dad blue) This bug was probably introduced in your recent updating smart matches - please do some testing before you release it. Another odd thing. When I looked at the tree on-line (by clicking on a child to get a look at relatives) it moves mum left and dad right, but when clicking on Mum to get a look at her antecedents it swaps the positions of the parents, i.e. dad left and mum right.
It has happened again - but even worse. I realised that a child was connected to the wrong mother. First I deleted the connection with his parents. Then as I was going to connect his with the right mother I hesitated and cancelled the action. I deleted the child instead. Then I created a new entry for him adding with the right mother. Lo and behold when I looked at the smart matches not only were the parents mixed up but his dad's sister was shown as one of his partners ! My solution is to delete the child for now and maybe add him back on another day.
It has happened again - I decided to delete 2 children from a blended family. Allan Ernest Walter had 2 wives. Olga Theyers and Iona Ramsey Robson. When I did that - it now leaves the remaining child with his correct mother but when smart matches are done it puts mum in dads position and vice versa, and when you come back to the family tree screen Mum is now on the left. So please fix this bug.
You're right, this is a bug in our system: when using the "connect to parents" option of a child ( partner) the position of the parents persons cards change places. Our developers are aware of the issue and working to resolve it as soon as they can. I will update you regarding this, and apologize for the inconvenience.
Its still happening - When is a new release coming out with this fixed? My Scottish ancestors and relatives seemed to marry among themselves so it is not unusual to find someone who I thought was not a relative become a relative when I check, and I want to attach them to their parents without this effect.
