I'm sorry for the frustration you're currently having with our Family Tree Builder, hopefully this email will help us to define the problem and solve it.
I would be glad if you could you provide us with more information regarding the following:
Information about your computer such as the operating system you're running, and how much storage do you currently have in your hard disk.
Where are you downloading the Family Tree Builder from?
(We urge you to use this link: http://www.myheritage.com/family-tree-builder)
What type of an Anti-Virus do you have installed on your computer?
Can you look and see if maybe the Anti-Virus blocked our FTB Software?
Can you provide a screenshot of the error you're receiving?
When you install, can you make sure you run the installation as an administrator?
(Right click the file of the installation > Run as administrator...)
Can you browse to the directory (using the windows explorer):
C:Program filesMyHeritageBin
and provide us with screenshots?
(Take the screenshot before and after the install of the Family Tree Builder)
You should send the information to support@myheritage.com.
Thank you for writing to us, and I'm sure we will solve this problem and give your access back to the FTB shortly.
Thank you for writing to us, these instruction should help you do what you've asked for!
In order to change a fact's date you will need to do the following:
1. Open the family tree
2. Click on the person you want to edit the dates for.
3. You will see a panel on the left-side of the screen with details on that person.
4. On the bottom of that panel you will see the sub-section called "Facts"
5. If you already have a fact there, such as death, or marriage you could edit the mistyped date by clicking the little pencil icon.
If you want to add a date someone passed away:
Do steps 1-4 for the person you want to appear as dead.
5. Click on the " Add" button next to the facts
6. A window should appear where you can edit the fact type (such as change it from birthday to death), and one of the fields will allow you to edit the death date.
Hopefullly this is what you've asked for, and we've solved your problems.
My tree has two beople with the same name. I wanted to invite person1 to work on the tree but by mistake invited person2 using person1's email. When I realized the mistake I told him not to use the site until I corrected the error. I erased person2 from the site, added him again, put in a different email, and when I tried to invite person1 using the original email it said that person2 was invited (that is, an account had been opened) using person 2's (incorrect) email.
How can I cancel the account opened for person two, and invite person 1 using the email address that was incorrectly assigned?
Ben
On top of it all, the help page says click on "ask a representative" But that form doesn't show up!!
The HELP staff wasn't working over the long holiday so I had to figure it out by myself (pat on the back ). For anyone interested, I erased the person2. Then I put in the email into person1 (where it should have been). The invitation was sent (because person2 didn't exist on my site) and ONLY THEN did I add person2 back to the tree with no email. The invitation was sent, I hope successfully. Ben
If the tree is correct in Family Tree Builder (FTB) software, but mixed up in the online site, I suggest that you remove the publication of the tree in your website and publish the tree tree again from your family tree builder software.
To delete your tree: go to your family site > Family Tree tab > Manage trees > Choose to delete the tree.
After the tree is deleted from the site, publish it as new from the software.
Notice that it might take longer than usual, as all photos are uploaded again to the site.
When I began creating my tree with FTB I decided to include my grand parents and descendants/ascendants from both sides of the family. I'm realizing now that I would prefer to have 2 trees instead of just 1. Is there a way to move 1 side of my family to another tree and all at once? I've already created a new project for this other tree (other side of my family). But right now to me, the only option I seem to have is to have 2 trees containing the same people and delete persons who don't belong in that tree 1 by 1.
I need help regarding "sources". Basically, I'm not sure what a source is exactly. From reading about it I think that a source can be a document like a Birth Certificate. Is this correct?
If it is correct, then to me it means that for every person I have in my tree and have a birth certificate for, I have to create a new source. i.e. If I have 95 persons in my tree and have a b.c. for each person, I'd end up with 95 sources. Plus, if I have a marriage certificate for let's say 40 people, I'd end up with another 40 sources. Does this sound correct?
A source is not the specific document, but the collection it comes from. For example:
Birth Certificates are not a source. The source is the census/Ministry of interior and the birth certificate is the citation.
Another example: I get a lot of information about my family from history book X. So the source will be the book X, and the citation will be the exact page in it.
Now you'll end up with one source and 95 citations (how it should be).
When I confirm a match, I'm told I can "extract information from this match" into Family Tree Builder - but I can't find any instructions on how to do that. I've gone through all the Q&A questions with no luck, and have had no luck trying to get instructions from both Family Tree Builder and My Heritage.
For the last 30 hours when I go into Confirm Smart Matches - View Matches - More Actions - Confirm Family Tree - it then show "Loading" & goes NO further. I have tried to contact My Heritage through "Contact form" but seems to just load & I don't see it sent & have had no contact from My Heritage. Can some one please help me to see other families trees so I can confirm the Smart Matches?
I imported my GEDCOM from ancestry.com. Of course, along with family came all the stragglers - those people I had added incorrectly and then deleted from the tree but not from the tree database.
So, is it possible to mass delete these individuals from my Family Tree Builder tree database? I'm referring to those individuals that give the pop up tip "Blah Blah is not related to you".
I have been doing each one manually: Hover down the list, find someone who "isn't related"; go to their card, edit person, delete person - but when I do it that way most of the time it kicks me back to the find list and I have to start all over.
I used to have a despricption of how i am related to each person in my tree under each persons profile. But now when I open any profile in my tree that part is empty. What to do?
