You are working with Build 7118, an old one. Close Your FTB programm.
Because there is a problem with the update checker, go to the menu Products->Family Tree Builder on the MyHeritage site and download the FTB to Your disk and install it over the 'old one'.
Be sure to download first, save it to Your disk and install it from Your disk.
Then start this FTB, click the Menu Help->About Family Tree Builder and right-click inside the about window. There You can see an option called stop checking for updates on startup, move Your mouse pointer to this option and click it.
BTW, You can verify the installed build number, if You just waiting a little bit on this About window and You will see Your installed build number.
This menu Apps ... etc is another way to find the FTB. I did take the path from the top of the forum page. Anyway, there are different ways to Rome, You know ;-)
FTB is the short form of Family Tree Builder. It is the usual way to take the first letter of every word of the name to shorten most of the software programs.
To find out, if the FTB don't start and take Your cpu time automatically, just monitor Your system with corresponding software tools You find on the market. I don't know, what kind of pc configuration You are working with. On windows systems, start Your task manager and check periodically the programms, processes and services, if You want.
Or just work with Your pc and forget this startup theatre. On my machine is silence since I've done this setting, described in the post before.
I cannot give You an assurance, because I did not configure Your system and I am not the software maker. I'm just discovering my family history here and I give Tips & Help in the forum, if I think my posts could be helpful.
