I have also complained about this problem back in July.
I'd have thought it would be relatively simple to fix. Just filter the GEDCOM and strip the HTML before it is fed to Nigel Bufton's program.Ideally some formating would be preserved, but I'd be happy with a quick fix.
Our programmers decided that since there are some programs that can import these HTML tags, to remove HTML tags only in case of creating a family book. This issue is currently only partially fixed- but they are woring on it.
I will update you regarding the matter as well, and apologzie for the inconvenience.
I have a private site that I invite members to join who are interested in common ancestors. However, I am not interested in sharing the information of living relatives with most of those people. I only want to share living relative infromation with my close familiy. Can this be done and how?
Just a thought. You could just make it public. That way people who are interested in the common ancestors can still see them and won't need to become members, and therefore won't be able to see the close living relatives.
Something I hadn't thought of Eric and good advice, thank you. Much better thatn waiting for the Development Team to get on board, oh wait....do they really exist?
We don't have a type of membership like other sites that the Site Manager can designate as "read only" or "can edit" or "can edit, but only specific info".
However, the Mixed privacy setting is designed to allow you to invite the people you want to see the full tree and still give guests limited access with names of living people in the tree protected. Just give guests the link to your site. They can reach the site and will automatically see the tree with limited information.
I have imported a GEDCOM file tree, but now i want to delete it. The problem is that i cant find any delete button, under manage family tree. I have an other tre that i can delete if i want but not mmy GEDCOM file tree. Does any one know how to do that?
I have set my family tree to "Public" so my family members can view it without the need to register as members. However, the tree show some names as "<Private>" and ask them to login or register to view the details.
How can we make the tree visible to everyone without the need to register or login?
To protect living persons privacywe build the system so that the names are privatised. The only way for your family to see the personal details is to login as an user.
An other way for your family to see the tree is by sending them a beautiful family tree chart - one that you can easily create online with your current data and send them by email.
If you want to create a chart go to the tab "Family Tree" and choose "Charts and Books".
I have a tree with about 6,500 people in it whcih was uploaded before the current plans came into play.
There seems to be no way for me to delete my tree witout paying money. I am not prepared to take out premium membership so deletion seesm the only option, if i can work out how!
I have hundreds of confirmed matches against my tree, and i relaise these will be lost, but I am happy to upload a smaller tree.
It seems inpossible to contact anyone from the site, so I am hoping someone here can help me.
Hi I started our family Tree several months ago and we have 20 site members (family and one related guest) and 330 plus names in our tree. Is it possible to share or have more than 1 site manager? I saw in setting that it is possible to ID a different site member as the 'Go To' for geneolgy stuff and one managing the site! I am lucky to have 2 site members who have many years of research experience for our family lines can I change their status to Site Managers as well i.e. have 3 site managers for the same family tree?
Please be advised that I do not wish to order anything at this present time as I am not well off financially and am brain injured and live on a modest income. Thankyou for your attention to this matter at hand.
When I responded to a Smart Match request, which looked new compared to the requests I have got before, the window below opened and I was requested to log in. One of my email addresses is inserted, but the wrong one. If I insert the correct email address and the password I am accepted only as a MEMBER and not as the web master. Either this is programming bug or a scam, designed to rip off my logging data. Can you tell me what is going on?
I have checked that the user and password info is correct on the web site in my profile.
