I get the following message when I try to install the program:
NSIS error: Installer integrity check has failed. Common causes include incomplete download and damaged media. Contact the installer's author to obtain a new copy.
Sometimes it could happen, that a download over the WWW finished without any error message, then the dowloaded file is - like Yours - corrupted and it's not possible to open it.
The selected person is always shown in the middle of the page so that both ancestors and descendants are displayed. Is it possible to have the selected person at the top of the tree so only descendants are displayed?
Is anyone aware of a way to assign a unique reference to a person, that will remain the same number for this person, no matter what? I have additional software that reply on external references, where I cannot use the gedcom INDI ref, since FTB reassigns these numbers whenever persons are deleted.
Old situation:
0 @I135@ INDI
1 _UPD 6 SEP 2011 15:51:32 GMT -0600
1 NAME Abel Baukes /Nauta/
New situation:
0 @I134@ INDI
1 RIN MH:I135
1 _UID 18DBC62E-8F2C-4CD7-8586-DB1F3499CC01
1 _UPD 04 FEB 2013 21:35:41 GMT 1

For unchanged persons, the numbers are identical:
0 @I1@ INDI
1 RIN MH:I1
1 _UID 3E65660B-7F50-4634-BA47-6AF8AD887FFF
1 _UPD 18 JUL 2011 19:08:14 GMT 1

The old reference is still available in the tag RIN MH, but until the next update? RIN is a unique reference, MH probably stands for MyHeritage, but what are the guarantees that this number will stay the same? Why did they change this to start with?
I tried to assign reference numbers, but I can only assign numbers to them using the description, which is a description in the gedcom file with a 'foreign key'. I assume the FTB reassigns these numbers as well whenever notes are deleted, so this does not help
I cannot believe that the numbers (INDI IDs) are reassigned, this is like changing primary and foreign keys in a database. You might be able to have a functioning program, but all external applications that rely on those keys are foobarred. In this case; my document generation. Manually reassigning is not an option, I have almost 6000 persons in my tree.
At this moment, I am strongly hesitating to drop FTB all together :-(
Ah well you see, you have unwittingly joined the MH-V7 club.
What some of us have done is reverted back to V6- but its not the easiest of paths but I wuld certanily give it a go. V7 is causing un-necessary stress among the users and MH will get to it one day.
My soultion- un-insatll V7- re-install V6- pick up where you left off and you only loose the material you updated between editions.
Then before you update to V7 again- read the forums and see if the issues are still active.
I would also email "SUPPORT" and make them aware of my dis-satisfaction.
And lastly - get back onto this forum and update your situation so others can see the process.
Thanks for a very nice web-inar yesterday about FTB. Allthough I consider myself to be among the yesterdays 14% advanced users, even I found a function that I had not thought about. It was an interesting hour and I wish you all good luck for coming web-inars, I will sure attend them.
By the way, here in Spain I had excellent sound and picture, well done.
I am having issues with the new version. Does anyone know if we can go back to an earlier version? 6.0? I emailed customer support last week, but have yet to get a response.
I applaud you folks for the latest unicode version which allows chinese text . I tried it and it works very well . Thank you ver much .
I do have a question though. When I tried to print a descendant report , the report will not print the chinese characters . Chinese characters are shown as (???? ????? ?????? ) etc .
Try laborate with windows printer settings. Search something in printer setup as: "print as raster page". Simply, disable using TrueType or build-in fonts, and force printer to print "as blind" only fully rastered page.
I am sorry I misled you . I should not have used the word "print" .
The descendant report page when generated within Family Tree Builder already has the ( ????? ????? ) wherever chinese characters should have been. ie the problem is there before printing. So yes this is a bug in the s/w.
Is the fulll installer version different from the update version ? Will installing full FTB version wipe out my current data? I think I had better backup/export the. ged file before reinstalling cd version.
The CD version is basically the same. Has same installer, same kernel. But, have additionaly direct build-in all possible graph templates and components for offline graph creating. So is bigger (cca 80MB instead 35MB). And, this is version, contained on original CD/DVD, that you can obtain from MH as paid medium.
Yes, backup is everytime good thing, but in this case will be no data touched, as the version/build will be not changed/upgraded. Only, will be updated few components.
Best backup is, in menu File - Backup project, and then in wizzard use checkbox for include photos too. This provide really full local backup. You can of course make additional GEDCOM export, but this may not contain photos and special proprietal MH data (as must be universally compatible with foreign products).
Example: you do not know when a person died, so in death fact you type in ">1801" or "After 1801" since this is the last record of the individual (if you type ">1801" FTB will change this automatically to "After 1801").
In the tree view you will now see the person "Died: After 1801"
Now, if you change view to the father/mother of this person, a short description the person will be visible right below. The death fact will now be seen as "~1801". This is of course wrong. ~ are the same as "About" not "After" or "Before".
I have sent screenshots directly to support at myheritage dot com since adding attatchments are not working in the forum at the moment.
Edit: the email with screenshots and this report are ticket #2013052010002702
Someone a while back complained of an inability to format the front page.
Please check here ( www.graysgoingback.myheritage.com ) to see some things that are possible and easy.
The welcome message won't take much in the way of HTML, but does like in all its forms.
Colored text and various font styles are simple. Type them in your favorite word processor, copy them, then paste into the welcome messge editor and click save. Most work just fine, and if anything looks bad just redo it.
The online version keeps telling me I have 3 new record matches (which turns out to be 47 matches in 4 collections; their programmers never could count). They're all garbage, as always. I've repeatedly rejected them one by one but there's no "Make it so" or "Save" or "OK" control to confirm the rejections and they keep coming back. And clicking "Reject" for any collection with only a single record gives you this incredible message:
Reject all these Record Matches, and much more...
Choose your plan for accessing your Record Matches and billions of records on MyHeritage
So today I decided to click "Reject All" to get rid of the ten WikiTree matches. To my amazement, I got to the splash screen for buying a data subscription to WVR, with the same incredible message for bulk rejection.
Yes, they want me to pay to reject the crap and stop the nuisance messages. It never ends!
I can turn off the "OTHER" button, but it is back on every time I enter map mode.
Also if I edit a residence (since it is not in standard format) map mode exits, and the residence frame pops up for me to edit, when I finish and exit out I get an error:
Only idea: This appears, as problem with write rights into secured windows programs folder. As simplest test, try run FTB as Administrator (right click on FTB icon, Run as...). And, do not forget update to latest build.
When I have looked in the tabs under Photos I've found a check box for Scanned documents. However it seams that it is disabled - or am I doing anything wrong?
Since the update with V7 the report have made som changes that I didn't like with the notes in a separate chapter, I decided to purchase The complete Genealogy Reporter. In this software there is a feature with scanned documents that can be extracted in a report. But if the document can't be tagged in the original source as a scanned document it will not be extracted!
In latest public build of FTB7 (7105) i have no problem with this checkmark. Try this: while inserting new scan, select directly Add new document, instead Photography. Next you must select mask *.* below, and so you can see all file types. Find your document (scanned in .JPG) and go through wizzard. Hope this helps.
