I would just like to add that I also would love to use FTB, but require unicode support for the Vietnamese branch of my family. Looking forward to the new release!
When I select "Publishing" - "Publishing Settings"
Selected the correct projekt and select "Advance settings"
at "Photos to publish" - "Specific photos selected below" I seleced 35 specific pictures and not more. When uploading I could see the status says "35 seleced 96 personal pictures" or something similar. At the family site I could only see the 35 pictures I seleced. BUT in the family tree Icouldseemany picturesasIhad notchose. And some of these pictures should not had being uploadet since these are private and only for showing family pictures offline in FTB.
I use my desktop most of the time for FTB but often take my netbook when I'm visiting family. If I want to use synchronising software to keep the two computers identical, which are the minimum FTB files or folders that need to be copied?
First, I must warn you that external synchronization is not officially supported or tested - I cannot guarantee that it is going to wok or even that it will not damage your project. The correct way to transfer a FTB project from one machine to another is via the Import/Export facilities within FTB itself.
However, if you still want to try this then the folder that needs to be synchronized is the MyHeritage\Project_Name folder within your "My Documents" folder. Please be careful not to edit the project simultaneously on both computers as this will surely damage it.
Thanks Sagi. I didn't even realize that the project folder existed in My Documents. I'd seen a similar folder in the MyHeritage folder itself and thought that was the one, but I see there are some slight differences. I think I'll take your advice and use the Import/Export function.
When I use suggest method for step children, both parent end up with the same relationship with child. In this case I am step parent and my ex is parent, but on tree we always end up with same relationship. Hope this is clear.
When I publish I get an message that this web site doesn't exist. I put in a name and it goes. How can I be sure it is publishing or is it setting ip a new file? I do have a web site set up and have downloaded back to my PC & Desktop because I am receiving info from differnet sources. After the last download from the site most of my photgraphdescriptions were no longer valid. i.e wrong information or wrong phot with an individual
First, please go to your family site, and to Family Tree > Manage Trees and remove the tree that you have published to your site.
Then go into Family Tree Builder and to Publishing > publishing settings > advanced settings. Make sure that you are logged in with the correct information.
then go back to Publishing > Publishing settings and there you will see all the publishing requests for your site. Select any requests there, and rmove those publishing requests. Then click on 'publish to another site' and choose your family site to publish to.
For some reasons - I can not grow my tree easily with using the smart match feature...I get matches but in the compare view pane and with the tree of the other person - I can not use the Merge Icon..it is grayed out...this is for several different people. I was thinking that this may be due to peoples tree security settings but not to be..
Same problem here, seems to have just started today (or this week, at least). Looking forward to a reply & solution from staff. The button is "greyed out" even after I "confirm" the match.
Interesting that they have not replied here. I sent a support message and I did get this reply. I wonder when they instituted their 1000 person limit referred to? See below.
Thanks for contacting us!
Because of people who abused the merge feature and added information just for having information, we decided to add a limit of 1000 merges per tree.
Because of users feedback we raised the limit to 5000 merges. To update the limit, please install the recent version of the software from this link:

Let me know if you still have a problem

Thanks Abe - I am in the process of downloading the file.....
I wonder why they do not bother replying or stating the limit and why bother having a limit - my tree is growing wider and wider with my own and other data. This is not the only issue that I have with FTB since being a serious user since Dec 2010 and the quality of their responses need improving.
From what I've seen of the Merge feature, it would be pretty time consuming to use the Merge Icon to try to Merge an entire tree. Someone would be much further off contacting the owner of the tree and getting the Gedcom file. I really can't picture a ton of people spending all that time merging entire trees...
Why should Premium and PremiumPlus members be limited in how much we merge? That feature is part of the reason we PAY for your service! I for one, use merge, because I have a disability that reduces how much time I can spend typing. If you're going to continue restricting the merge feature, perhaps another program/website will better serve my needs.
I don't know what version the other members with this problem have, but my software is saying I have the latest version...it's version 5, and ends with 1186 (sorry, don't have it open right now). Is 1183 newer or older?
