I did indeed switch to Czech both as keyboard language and display language in MyHeritage. Still - no respond. If I fill out a relative's personal data, best example is "Oldřich Ježek",the display shows after typing "Oldrich Ježek" Or someone who is named "H°ula" is now "Hula". How is a permanent change possible?
it depends on what you define by new. I use the version that has been released before I was trying to solve that writing problem, so it's probably at least two months old.
i've upgraded from FTB v4 to v5 a couple of days back, and i started exploring it.
i stumbled upon the "Tree Consistency Checker".
the idea is a stroke of genius!
but,
two little questions:
(the attached picture concerns both questions)
1. whatever i press in the window - nothing happens and i get a "script error" message at the bottom.
what could it be?
2. i can't understand the first issue the TCC finds. the explanation doesn't sound like an issue but stillit's checked as an error. i couldn't find any help online about "Wrong designation of husband and wife (#26)"
2) The wrong designation of husband and wife refers to a Gedcom where the husband is on the right and the wife is on the left (against genealogical standards where it is the other way around). You can choose to ignore this issue, if you wish.
You are runnning an old version of Family Tree Builder. Try to update your version (Tools > check for updates). If this does not help, try running Family Tree Builder as administrator (right-click the software icon and select Run as administrator), as we suspect it may be related to access right to the phots on your hard disk.
I just downloaded the free version - created a report where I had the names in color, but it didn't print in color - also, I have a husband and wife with 3 pictures connected to them - one of the husband, one of the wife and one of the marriage - why doesn't the wedding photo show up in any of the reports?
Hi.
1) When you are saying that names appeared in color in the report, which report are you referring to?
2) Regarding the photos: all our reports currently show one photo per individual - the photo you set as the individual's personal photo.
But that solution only created a new tree on the web, which is a pure copy of my main tree, my relatives aren't connected to this tree, some data are missing, etc...
How to JUST switch back the mode of my previous tree to the online-edition enabled?
1) the original one that was published from family Tree Builder, that is not editable on the site by you or your site members.
2) the Gedcom tree that is a mirror image of your original tree, but is editable online.
To go back to editing your tree in family Tree Builder and publishing to your site when you update your tree, please go on your site to Family Tree > Manage Trees. Delete the Gedcom tree.
You can then continue editing and publishing your original tree from Family Tree Builder.
Hi Esther!
Thank you for your response, but you didn't understand me.
I don't want te edit tree no2 in Family Tree Builder.
I would like to edit online my original tree (1) - because my relatives are already connected to this tree.
I just went to your site, and I see that your site only has trees that are fully editable on the sites. So you just have to edit the tree directly from the site!
The new chart feature is a very nice!! However, while experimenting with printing I chose Adobe PDF as the printer so I could study the chart and be able to take the file somewhere to print in color. While checking the chart I noticed that many of the people do not have any info below their photo, only 1 or 2 dashes. Needless to say I am unable to print the family tree chart. I tried this with several of the chart choices with the same result.
Is this a known bug and is it being investigated? Please advise as this is a great benefit of the program!!
Hi, I downloaded the .exe file update to my laptop. Sometimes it installs faster than directly from the internet. I then backed up my files and installed the update. I reran a previous chart and saved to PDF. Sorry to say the same problem exists....missing names and data. Where do we go from here? Looking forward to hearing from you.
I have the exact same problem. If the chart goes back 6 generations it's ok when output as a PDF, but taking it to 7 generations and I just get the tree lines, photos and names. All other details are missing. Trying to output this as JPG crashes the applications.
This is really disappointing as one would expect such features to scale, and clearly it doesn't. It shouldn't be left to users of a released product to find what are essentially fundamental defects in the product (I'm a QA manager for a major software company, hence why I'm a little passionate about this).
I'm hoping we might get a patch for this, it looks really good but is useless for me at the moment.
Thanks for your comment. I'm going to investigate Mr Heritage contacts to see if they are aware of this problem. I've already had comments from family about the jpg file family tree I sent them. All positive.
Prior to actually printing the poster I wanted to "play" with the various charts. Printing costs are fairly high, so getting the poster correct the first time is essential.
I also experimented with PDF vs JPG, whole and divided files. Still the problem exists. We'll see. If I find out anything more I will post here.
Thanks Roger - keep me posted. I have managed to get great output with smaller trees (I say smaller, they're still rather big). One problem I also had even with the smaller trees was occasionally peoples surnames would be missing, but playing with the font sizes fixed that.
Anyhow, for the smaller trees I have sent off for a poster ! PDF produces far better quality than JPG, but a lot of poster printing sites don't do PDF. Found one in the end; http://www.posterjack.co.uk/ (I'm not affiliated with this company) - they do a great selection of sizes and the website was great, but the proof will be in the delivery of my poster this week (which is coming from Germany!).
So I was all fired up to do the same as a Christmas present for various family members, but the larger trees suffer from this "no text" issue. So frustrating...
