So, I can no longer access my site until I upgrade to premium. Why is this? You say it is free to use then you block me from updating it and accessing the program unless I upgrade to premium. Is this how it is? I must upgrade to continue to use it?
I have been building my Family on the free version of FTB. I would like to use the Virtual Keyboard to enter Polish letters. I cannot for the life of me find the Icon to activate, as mentioned in the Help PDF.
My Questions are;
- Should this be visible or is it a Premium feature.
- If it should be visible, why am I nopt seeing it. Is there somewhere somebody can direct me to trouble shoot this. using Windows Vista Home Premium.
When I look at my family tree on the net, my pointer is like a hand and I can move in the tree as I move the pointer/hand. Is there a possibility to have the same view on my PC? I find ït a little difficult to navigate in my tree. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for wriring us. Currently the hand pointer is only available on our online family tree website. On our famly tree builder program, you will only see an arrow that will guide you through the tree as you mentioned. This would be a nifty feature to add on to the family tree builder. Thanks for your feedback. At this time you may move the generations lever above the tree to view more members at a time on your tree.
I am a member of several sites that I would like to download and merge into my family tree. Is it possible to download a family tgree that I am member of? The merging ting I know hoe to do. Do I have to aske the web manager to send me a GEDCOM file?
Is it possible to select several photos at once and somehow associate someone with them all in one hit ?
I've tried selecting several photos at once, then right clicking the person in the list and choosing Associate with Photo however this only associates them with the last photo that was chosen in the group.
With earlier versions of Family Tree Builder, I was publishing multiple Family tree sites with specific limbs of my Family tree of interest to other researchers without affecting my core Family interest. Since updagrading to Family Tree Builder 5.0, I can now only manage one Family Tree site from the single Family tree within Family Tree Builder 5.0.
i.e. I have a site ofor descendants of a certain family surname, and another site for descendants of a differnt arm of the family. These were managed by associating the tree with Advanced settings and only publishing descendants of one or two ancestors, then creating a second one for other ancestor descendants.
Does anyone know if this has been done on purpose by MyHeritage, or is maybe an oversight with the upgrade and a future enhancement will re-introduce the capability.
In FTB 6.0, we changed the publishing settings menu. Now you can publish each project to only one site at any given time.
This was done in part to support the new features that were added under the "Family Site" menu, but more importantly to support the two-way sync feature which will be released with FTB 7.0, later this year.
Two-way sync will allow you to edit your FTB tree online, from any computer, and then sync back the changes to FTB. You will also be able to invite other site members to edit the tree (but only if you want them to).
a sync feature is not possible if one project is connected to two sites, and this feature is the number one request from our users.
If you want to keep publishing different versions of the tree, i suggest the following method:
Each time you make changes to your project, save it, and then save it again using the Save As project, under a different name.
this will create another copy of your project, for which you can change the publishing request, and the advance publishing settings.
Alternatively, you can refrain from duplicating the project, and instead publish the same project twice - changing the publishing request after the first time and then publishing again.
I realize that this change makes the use of the program more cumbersome for you, but I hope version 7.0 will provide enough benefits to compensate for this drawback.

First of all, I would like to clarify that the 'Records' button that you are refering to, is not related to Smart Matches. This is a new feature we have that allows you to see relevant records of that specific person on the thousands of collections of worldvitalrecords.com
If you would like to hide this button please follow this steps:
1. Go to the section Tools > Options.
2. Enter to General
3. Scroll down the list of options and make sure the last option: Automatic Record Search is set: NO

the Myheritage.exe has been quarantined by my virus checker, it says the Threat is Gen:Variant.Spam.1 i program file c:\program files\myheritage\bin\MyHeritage.exe source: Real Time.
I disconnected from the internet and restored the file. I then uninstalled and cleared out the files.
I then reconnected and downloaded and reinstalled the software. I disconnected from the interenet and shut off my firewall. The software ran ok. I then restarted everything properly and bingo, it has been quarantined again.

For your peace of mind Family Tree Builder does NOT contain any viruses. It is absolutely safe to install Family Tree Builder on your computer. Hundreds of thousands of people have done so and continue to do so.

To let you know, I just received word that Bitdefender has now updated their definitions and you should be able to update definitions in your software, reinstall Family Tree Builder and continue working on your tree.
Another note for Family Tree Builder users, your family tree files are saved separately from the program in your My Documents folder. They will not be affected in any way by uninstalling, reinstalling the program.
I am a new user to the Family Tree Builder and have been using the package for about 3 months. I opened up the tree on Saturday morning to find that all the files were empty and that the program had been wiped from my PC. I re-installed the program and to my dismay when I downloaded the backup the whole tree is scrambled to such an extent it is irreparable! I have tried repair it using the online help and instructions but it seems the whole thing is corrupt and unusable to the extent that my grandson is now the second spouse of his great grandfather! I was using the version 5 and upgraded to the version 6 and everything was working beautifully up to Saturday 21 January.
Please recover the backup file of your tree by going to Start at the bottom left corner of the screen > My Documents > MyHeritage > project name > Backup > backup date > Database > double click on the file to open it in the Family Tree Builder.
