When attempting to upload my file, it gives me a messasge that says "You have requested to publish information about 449 people but your family site is limited to 250 people..."
When I click the CONTINUE button, a Microsoft Visuell C Runtime Library dialog box pops up that says:
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I JUST downloaded this & installed it from your site tonight. I have to be honest, this is the 2nd error with your app that I've already encountered. The first one was resolved by searching your forums and now the 2nd one I'm having to post a new message about. I don't mind paying for extended features, but if the base features are flaky, I have issues paying for additional ones.
My O/S is Windows 7 64-bit on a Dell Optiplex system. Please let me know if you need any further information. Thank you.
I'm wondering if there is a better way to manage spouse relationships that I'm not aware of. The main relationship that causes me concern is of an Aunt. She has never legally married or had children, but has had two significant partners that are important to my family tree. If I set both of these men's relationship to her as "partner" it appears that she is with both at the same time ;) which is not the case. If I set Partner 1's status to seperated, it then displays they were husband and wife. So I have set the relationship between my Aunt and her first Partner to "other" and my Aunt and Partner 2 to "partners" but on publishing to my family site, the lines joining my aunt and her first partner are solid, not dashed.
Is there some way to indicate dates of relationships? I can only see a way to indicate marriage dates, and setting relationship dates may solve the problem? I'm sure others have this issue, as there are many couples nowdays that choose to live as "domestic partners outside of marriage" or "common-law marriages" or "de-facto relationship".
Along the same issue, I have a cousin that was engaged to a girl for a long time and who we now consider part of the family, but they have recently seperated. I changed their status to seperated, but it shows that they were husband and wife. I want to show that they were engaged only, and then seperated.
Under each pair of spouses that you add in Family Tree Buidler, appears a rectangular box that lists their status and number of children. If you click on Edit> Edit details, you will see the option to change the status from Partners to Separated. You can add a fact for the separation with its date. If you want to completely detach them, you can use the Detach feature in Family Tree Builder.
"Ex-partner" is an option that's definitely needed in this program. I have at least three instances on my tree where I need it. I've made work-arounds, but I dislike them because they're only visible when double clicking the relationship box, and probably completely invisible to anyone viewing my tree online.
Also, dates (and places) should show in the relationship box for all relationships, not just marriages like they currently do. It makes no sense that they don't. It would be nice if divorce dates could somehow be included in a more visible way as well.
These seem like very easy fixes for the programmers (aside from possibly the divorce date option), I don't see why they couldn't be made in the next update.
This is great software aside from this issue, I very much hope it gets fixed. I've looked into other software because of this issue alone, though I'm hoping not to switch if this is changed soon.
Today when I tried to update the website, I kept getting a connection failure. Reinstalled the software, uninstalled/reinstalled the software. No go. Gave the software complete access through my firewall. No go. Since I obviously can access my website, along with the help forums, there's nothing wrong with my Internet connection. Ergo, there appears to be a problem on your end. It will be resolved soon, I hope. One other thing: the publishing system thinks today is Dec. 4, 2011. Attached are the error reports.
thank you for asking. Unfortunately, there is no special tool to delete a whole branch in online family tree. You need to delete profile by profile. Please make sure that you will start from the person who is located at the end of the branch - I meant the person who does not have extra profiles around.
I was under the impression that the "recent photos" page on the site would not be visible to guests. However, I am told by site members on my family tree that they can indeed see the last 100 photos on that page. There are duplications there (created mistakenly by me) and since no editing is possible, I would prefer that no once else can view them. Can you please educate me? Thank you!
The "recent photos" page on the site are visable to guests given that the photo album in which you have posted your photos on is not private. If you are interested in making sure these "recent photos" are private, my solution would be to make sure the photo album in which you are posting it to is kept in a private setting.
In order to make your photo album private, please take the following steps:
1. Click on Photos & Videos > Find.
2. Click on the album you want to make private.
3. Click the Edit Details button.
4. In section 3 of the edit details screen, remove the check from the box labeled “Make this album public”.
