I accidentally uploaded a family tree file to my website last night (forgot to check my publishing settings!!) and noticed all the photos uploaded with it, creating triplicates of all my albums! I have managed to delete the tree from the website easily, but now have all the empty photo albums sitting in my photo area. I can't seem to get rid of these phantom albums (ie, there is no delete function for them). They serve no purpose other than to confuse my site members so can someone please help me, and tell me how to delete these "phantom" folders??
I am trying to show my sister how she is related to someone in the 1700's. I want to select only certain people to print in a family tree. Is this possible with the free version of Family Tree Builder? I am using Windows Version 188.8.131.5265. If it isn't possible with the free version, will it work in the full version? Thank you.
My smart research will not work either. I recieve smart matches on a daily basis so smart matches is working. But when I try to do research the smart research says it found information but it will not show anything. It will say, results 1-20 of x-number of finds for example but then the area were it should be is blank. does anyone know why smart research doesn't work?
Please note that each time that you publish your tree to the site the Smart Match calculation process is restarted. This means that if you publish your tree very frequently you may experience a large delay in receiving the new Matches.
I have now made a change in the database so that your site's Matches will be processed faster. Please wait 3 days without publishing a new version of your tree to the site, and you should receive Matches.
If this does not resolve the problem, please let me know.
Unfortunately, Smart Matches™ are not fully synchronized yet between the Family Tree Builder software, and the family site. Even if you use the Family Tree Builder more often, we encourage everyone to use Smart Matching™ on your family site, and enter new information you learn using Family Tree Builder because they both use different algorithms and it might be timely to find smart matches on the program depending on the size of your tree.

I received aGEDCOMfile butafoldercontainingthe images fromthe project. The file isexportedfrom anotheruser of "Family TreeBuilder".When Iload thefile, the pictures arenot be loaded- howdo I get themput inthe right places?
Unfortunately there is no way to sort the facts on our program if there are no dates provided.
Thanks for your feedback and I'll be sure to forward this to our developers for future consideration.
Regarding the GEDCOM file in which you have recieved from another family tree builder, you are going to need to upload this file differently to how you have uploaded it, to add the photos attached. Please have the member that is sending you this tree to export package. He/She may do this by clicking on:
What this does is, it exports the information and the photos attached with the proper links that will place the photos in the correct place on your tree.
Please let me know if you need more assistance with this.
This evening after publishing an extensive update of mainly photos to my family tree using Family Tree Builder, I noticed the photos I had used and tagged were not tagged to people on-line. I went back and looked at the Family Tree Builder version and almost all photos are no longer linked to people. This is man-years of effort gone and I must say I am not at all pleased about this. The photos are still in the MyHeritage directory on disk, but the linking data has all but gone.
There were no error messages this evening. I am running Windows 7 on a 64bit processor. There are 8793 files in the Photos directory - there are 3 versions of each photo and the latest one is P3367 (that I loaded tonight). Family Tree Builder says it has only 472 photos! So clearly something has gone awry
Is there a way of restoring the links? I daren't touch the files (I notice there are some cfg files marked backup with today's date).
Really hoping you can help as there is too much work in recreating thes from scratch - and then I wouldn't trust your program to keep my work intact.
PS. I have now retrieved the online backup to bring the tree back to where it was last week (I hope). This evening's work seems to have been wasted though. I will retain the GEDCOM (ZED) file on my computer.
The online backup didn't do anything and it never appeared.
Luckily I had my own local backup that had created a version just before the problems emerged and so I seem to have lost only the very recent updates. Republishing now and hope for no more problems. I will advise. However the links to photos seem rather fragile if a whole swathe can be lost in an instant yet the family tree itself is retained.
Thanks for your reply and acknowledgement that there is indeed a problem. The only thing I can think of that was different to my usal trouble free process was that I worked the tree while it was in the process of publishing. Perhaps some interaction between Family Tree Builder editor and the publisher? In previous versions it would crash the editor.
OK, this just happened again (nearly). The common item with the last time this happened was creating a virtual cemetery - that is linking people to photos of their headstones. File saved OK but then when published unlinked all photos online. I noticed that the new photos I had added were not being transmitted. Luckily I had kept FamilyTree Builder open and the photos were all still linked. So I saved again and published once more but the photos still do not come up online. The version on my computer seems to be fine. I closed down Family Tree Builder then restarted - files OK - then republished and the online photos were relinked OK. You have a bug indeed.
Fortunately I have a local and continuous backup which stores previous versions of the family tree file. If you have such backups then look for a file youfamilytreename.zed. Rename you current file something like yourfamilytreenamold.zed and copy your backup into its former place. You will find this file in the folder "my document/myheritage/yourfamilytreename/database"
Family Tree Builder also makes its own backups. In the same folder area there should be a folder called Backup that contains zip files. Within these are the .zed and .cfg files that define your project. You could try copying these across to your database and cfg folders to reset your project to an eralier time. Please rename or copy your current cfg and zed files so you don't lose them in the process.
I hope this helps you.
Were you also using the virtual cemetery feature when this problem happened? I found that if you keep the project open while you check publication it is possible to avoid losing the photo links by resaving the project and restarting the program. I alse occasionally make a backup of the .zed file manually before starting to make changes, just in case something goes wrong.
I agree the support has not been very helpful. They acknowledge there is a problem but don't seem to do anything about it.
Thank you for your help I shall ceck if I have thouse folders. Myheritage will throu me out and pay back my money for 5 years ahead and not answer my questions, I wonder if they have the wright to do that I am very sad and don´t know what to do. I wanted to have famelybook full of photos
