What I would like for you to do is to uninstall the FTB software and then visit www.MyHeritage.com and scroll to the bottom of the page and under the download section click again on Family Tree Builder and re-install the software.
This should help resolve the situation for you yet if not then please let us know and we will investigate this matter futher for you.
If You double click the banner between the huspand and wife and their children you will get a dialog to fill in.
You will get the same dialog if you click the Edit button on that banner or if you select the menu option Family and then Edit details.
Also, when you add a spouse you have the opportunity to add the date and place for the marrige.
To export these fields you have to make a "Export Special Report" where you can specify which fields you want to include in the report. Maybe the report is something that is not included in the free version.
I'm using Family Tree Builder (version 6.0.06534). I created my family tree in three segments as it was quite large and am now merging them. After copying one profject, I then imported the other two via GEDCOM. I then used the Check for Duplicates feature to clean up the duplicates. In most cases I had no issues, but every so often in the list there are comparisons which overlap, so the details can't be viewed properly. I thought initially that it was only at the start of the list but it happends in a few other places also. I've attached two screenshots to provide an idea of what I mean.
Once I determine which people are duplicates, do I then have to manually merge the data between them?
I also received a message when I clicked the Help button that there was a new version of the Help available, whic was downloaded, but when the PDF file opened it was for version 5.0. Is there a 6.0 version available, and if so, how do I access it?
1) Regarding the problem with the display in the duplicate report, this appears to be a bug with the check for duplicates feature.
I will send this on to our development team for their further investigation.
I will let you know when this is fixed and I apologize for the inconvenience.
Meanwhile, to solve the problem, you can enlarge the window. This seemed to solve the problem in my computer. You can enlarge the window by placing the cursor on bottom right corner and drag.
2) We don't automatically merge duplicates as we don't want to risk losing information during the merge process. We plan to improve our merging and duplicates tools in the future,
3) The main functionality of our software wasn't changed from FTB 5 to FTB 6, so we decided there is no need to rewrite the user's guide. We have added very informative FAQs for all the new feature added in FTB 6:
I have noticed a bug with the Maps feature. On several people I have added just a town and state because street was not known. When I look on the maps I see the light bulb next to the address telling me there are alternate auggestions. If I choose to change to one of the selections or edit the place/name, the program goes back to the tree screen and puts up a dialog box to enter additional information. When I hit OK I see a Permissions denied screen, when I hit Yes I get a blank screen and have to click on Maps again.
I have attached a screen shot of the box the pops up.
Um, I don't know if or how I can do this. How can I add a child I've had by a family member? Is there a way to go about doing that? It's only fair that I put it and I don't wanna not put it. There's a similar situation with my cousin with her uncle; is that possible too?
It's not letting me add my father as the father of my child. My biological father is also my child's biological father, and I wanna make a tree so that my child doesn't think I hate her. How do I make that happen?
This is where I have to try to be diplomatic and I am not very good at it.....
There is no need to actually name a parent of a child in your family tree, though if that is what you want others will advise you of how to do it.
A couple of times I have found that a child in my family tree, we'll call this one Mary, is not ( or maybe is not) the daughter of her mother's husband (usually it is because the child was born before the wedding..)
So I have given her a separate father and called him Mary's Dad, because it sounds nicer than Unknown.
I'm sorry for misleading you. Online family editor doesn't let you add this type of relationship indeed.
You can use our Family Tree Builder software to build your tree, there you'll be able to add your father as your partner. You can download Family Tree Builder by clicking Family Tree Builder link at the bottom of the page under Downloads section.
Once you install it and add all the information and names, click 'Edit' on your personal card, then select Spouses > Attach spouse option to connect your father with you as partner.
