We would be glad if you could give us examples of inaccuracies so we could investigate what exactly are the faults in our system and fix them right away. Links to the appropriate records would be helpful.
Okay. I ran searches for the same individual, using the same criteria, in each of three ways, and here's the accuracy:
1. Record Matching - 1 of 721 or .001% with 0.0000000% in the first 20.
2. SuperSearch - 1 of the first 20, with four more possibles (can't tell without Data Subscription) or 5%
3. Ancestry.com -5 of the first 20, or 25% accuracy
The results with full details were sent to email@example.com today (22 Mar 2013) with some specific suggestions for improving the product.
Of course, since I refuse to pay for a Data Subscription, I realize now that I am unable to see the Record Detective at work. Now that I see that SuperSearch at least has the potential to match Ancestry, I may eventually reconsider....once my suggestions have been implemented.
I will take a look at your suggestions and will answer you back in email regarding the accuracy issue.
Ancestry.com had a head start on us because they had a lot more content than us, but recently we have changed the game and started improving our systems as well (including the new census records and improving our supersearch/recordmatches systems). You have got to remember that MyHeritage came along recently to the arena of records and finding content for your family tree. We are a young growing company that would be more than glad to take your suggestions and try our best to implement them.
Pleased to report that tonight the Record Defective seems actually to be working online. There was a notice of a new Record Match, just one (a nice change from the 353 Smart Matches!). I clicked it and it turned out to be a hit -- an actual ancestor of mine. I clicked the record, and to my amazement the RD turned up five additional records which appear (haven't checked them yet) to be relevant.
Under the list of records, though, was a list of "Related People" Three of the five were from my own tree. MH please note: reporting to me people from my own records does not advance my research one iota.
I have reported this issue to firstname.lastname@example.org as Ticket#2013061610001424
I was going to comment on my disappointment that the Family Tree Builder is still not available for Macs however, as I read about all the bugs associated with this app, I think that I may be better off without it.
Perhaps, but bugs usually get worked out...or around. I just wish that MH would at least try to develop a Mac version. From a users standpoint, the Mac platform would be a smoother and more elegant experience. So please MH, tell us when you will or why you won't.
your post is from 2011, we are now in 2014 and MyHeritage still not developing any software for mac, this is really hard to believe!
I first chose MyHeritage like 10 years ago, it's been 2 since I have migrated to Apple and they still answering they are in some kind of developing phase!.....of course they have the app for MyHeritage but is useless for editing and working on the tree building
I'm really disappointed with My Heritage at the time, thinking on migrating everything to Ancestry, who have Family Tree Maker for mac!......but I have to manually migrate about 250 members I have on my family tree!
We do have plans on releasing, hopefully still this year, a Mac version of our Family Tree Builder (FTB).
Nonetheless, as a Mac user, you can continue editing your family tree via website. Once we have the Mac version ready, you will be able to simply sync it with the site and continue editing your tree on the FTB.
I have 2 premium sites both of the same family tree. One site will process and retrieve smart matches. The other site that I recently upgraded to premium will not retrieve all smart matched that my first site has. When I hit smart matches a message comes up saying My Heritage is processing smart matches please check later or something similar. This message has been appearing since I upgraded the second site to premium - over 3 weeks. I check 4 or 5 days and it tells me it is still processing. How to fix please.
4) Watch how individuals from the earliest generations are missing from the Fan Chart and the boxes where they should be are just empty (make sure "Include empty boxes for ancestors not in the family tree" are checked in the chart options)
So, the individuals are missing from the boxes and FTB handle them as if they do not exist. This is of course wrong and needs to be corrected.
A related bug is that the individuas who are added have their birth and deceased -years missing. This only affect individuals from generation 6 and more. Years should naturally be added for those as well. Add year behind the name instead of below whenever it's suitable, to make the data fit in each box.
