I've let others join, but have asked everyone to feed me the changes and I am retaining configuration management control of the content. I am not necessarily going to filter other's work, but it's important that only one person be uploading to the site.
The other option is to split your tree while it's being built and give configuration control to others 1 for each section and then use the merging option to bring them all together when the majority of the work is done - my wife and I used this method while we were actively adding lots of content. We had 4 trees being built and then I merged them into a 12,000 tree that is still growing.
First of all i would like to say that i am very satisfied with this software. It has been doing exactly what I've been wanting it to do and most importantly with extreem ease.
Now as to further expand my family tree I would like to share it with others. Giving them the oppurtunity and the possibility to help me keep the data up to date. However to avoid nasty family fights, giving them editing rights to only parts of the tree would be better.
They should however still be able to see the entire tree.
In short, they must to be able to edit only parts of the data BUT still be able to read the rest.
Is their a way to achive this? Or can I only share the tree as a whole. Splitting up the tree would be a hassle and is something I wish to avoid.
I am new to DTB so the answer may be simple here. In FTB I have been entering quite a bit of information in the 'Notes' tab for my relatives but I don;t see this information available for viewing anywhere on my myHeritage page. When you publish from FTB does the Notes data get published too..if so where.
Yes the notes are on the website and there is a way to get to them. On the Family Tree page click on the person you want, then on People. On the next screen on the search bar type the first name of the person (more if you remember correctly). On the next screen click Notes and Sources and your note will be there. It helps if you have some indication on the family tree page that a person has a note attached. I have put my folks with notes between asterisks like so *Huybertus Horst*. The inconvenience is that the asterisks are now part of the name and you have to remember that in tagging pictures etc. If you have used an asterisk or something similar, alphabetize by first name on the People screen and all the folks with notes will be listed first and you can browsw your folks with note all at once.
I and several other people have begged the myHeritage support people to please automate this function, but so far no results. When they do, I can get rid of my asterisks!
This is something the MyHeritage developers have promised, but for now, the notes content is not shown on the web site. I asked them for this change a month or so ago.
Either I'm not doing something right or notes are not an option for for us non-premiums ~wink~ . I type in the name of the person who has notes attached in FTB and all their info pops up on my homepage; photos, facts...but I don't see notes or the "next screen" you mentioned. I'm a newbie as well and still "wet behind the ears". Help!
You have to be on the FAMILY TREE page. Then click the person-with-note card and then PEOPLE right above the fact info on the left. Then on the next screen fill in the person's first name (correctly!) and a list will appear. Hover over or click on the person-with-note. On the next screen click NOTES AND SOURCES and your note will appear.
I can't imagine why that (i.e. bi-lingual notes) would be a problem, but then I don't think like a computer program. As a Premium Plus member, I am able to use 'on-line chat' with the MH support team. Would you like me to ask? It might be a good time to remind them that they were going to automate this function.
If you are working in your family tree builder and with a specific person, you can select to view them.
Right below the living years their are 4 little icons. The last one will take you to notes. If you have notes there will be a littl greenish area. If you have more than one note you have to the edit and main menu.
If I try to publish a different tree with the same number of people in it to an existing tree (295), FTB tells me I'm only allowed 212 people in my tree & 83 people will not be displayed. Is FTB referring to the 500 people limit for basic accounts?
Is it possible to overwrite a published tree with a different file that has the same exact info in it, but has a different file name (I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this)? If I delete the original tree, will I be able to publish the new file (same amount of info, different file name) to the existing account?
I´m a user like you ,and I had the same problem. If you have your FTB in your PC, you must delete the tree in the net. Because if you try to publish your modified tree, you are duplicating the number of photos, names, etc.
When attempting to publish to the second of my 2 sites from Publishing, Publishing Settings, Advanced Settings, FTB wants to log in with site #1 credentials. If I change to "Use my current MyHeritage account" which has the correct login credentials (the account this message came from), I get a "Error Site does not exist" when I click OK. Why can't I publish to this account?
