I have a number of adopted cousins who are part of our family but do not show up at all on the family tree. Is there something that I'm doing wrong or is this also part of this problem being worked on?
I am having the same or similar problem where the menu asks "delete this person?" I select "OK" and get the message "Cannot delete this person, please delete all connected relatives and try again." But, I don't WANT to delete the other relatives. Nevertheless, I tried it--went all the back to great-grandparents--and I STILL cannot delete the unwanted people.
I am having a similar problem. For some reason one person is represented three times. I try to delete one of the entries and I get the "cannot delete this person, please delete all connected relatives". The same person is connected to himself three times and therefor will not delete. Any suggestions?
Thanks for replying. I would send you the link but I used a "work around" solution and the problem is gone. I just went into Family Tree Builder and corrected the problem there, created a Gedcom file, uploaded it to create a new tree and got rid of the old tree.
My Heritage replied privately to my original message that this might be offered in the future if there was demand. I have GEDs with 36,000 and 23,000 names to merge - and removing over 1,000 overlaps manually is not practical, neither is mannually comparing and adding the data from those 1,000 overlaps, and then manually deleting them from one tree.
I hope that My Heritage looks at adding this soon, as I really don't want to have to learn another software package and move everything.
I am very grateful for a free program, but I would like to suggest that using the term "Merge" is a poor choice, If I have to go back and manually remove 100's of records it really is more of an "Add" feature.
I would love to see a true "Merge" function, but until you reach that point I would suggest you change it to "Add" to avoid confusion.
