Recently my cousin married my Uncle's daugter. Both are already in my Family Tree. How to connect them together now? I tried all the possible ideas. But everything failed. I do not want to duplicate same user many times.
Like Joann I use the HyHeritage PC program to do my family tree. It's more powerful than the web page. However when you publish from the PC program to the web site the family tree that appears is not editable on the web site - so it's PC only then.
Anyway I just had a play around with the web page builder and I reckon you can't do what you want to do. Best thing is to use the PC program or ask your two cousins to get divorced ;-) I'm sure they will understand ;-)
Bring up your cousin's name, then go to EDIT, click SPOUSE, go to the ATTACH SPOUSE it should then display a box showing everyone in your tree, click on the person who want shown as partner from there.
I haven't done this myself but it will probably also then show them as married cousins or if a message comes up with a question to see if thats what you want displayed say yes.
I had a problem I think is similar. Somehow I had managed to have one brother only connected to the father and one brother only connected to the mother. I tried every way I could think of as far as disconnecting and reconnecting, but I could find no way of getting both connected to both parents at the same time. I couldn't connect someone to a parent if they are already connected to one, even though they only have one parent connected. It might have worked if I could "connect" two people as siblings, but of course that isn't an option. In the end, since the mother had no relatives I just deleted her altogether.
In this new version of FTB i tried ti enter the data in Arabic, but when i view the tree all the data entered becomes Question Marks instead of the Arabic letters, also for the user interface some buttons appear correctly and some appear in strange language (e.g Latin Letters).
Has anyone else had this problem? I downloded and installed newest version (free) of FTB and when I tried to load the maps feature it crashed. Tried this three times, same results. Anyone else with the same experience?
I'm glad to have come here. I am a newbie in your site. And you know from the very first visit to your started loving it. I am really happy to post my comment here. It is a nice topic. Thanks for sharing!
I have had problem with Maps - not appears checkbox titles on top. Maps module is based on WWW XML technology, and modifies itself for ABSOLUTE paths on local hdd! And my problem was, login name to WinXP with czech national characters. These characters were right used in Windows local path, but www system was translated to web convence "ť" etc. After creating new local login with strictly english characters runs it OK.
Maybe I should explain my problem a bit more. I recently upgraded to version 4.0 (free) and when I click on the maps feature an error boz appears. It states: "Genealogy Web Browser has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." It usually takes a ctrl, alt, delete command to get rid of the box. Has anyone else had the same problem?
Have you installed MSIE8, instaled latest WIndows Service Pack and latest updates through WindowsUpdate? Defined MSIE as default web browser? Logged in (for test purposes) as administrator? With these conditions, try backup family data and reinstall FTB with sample data only, then test it.
